Nothing is good about to be an asocial NEET. You will be always depressed and pathetic. It can be somehow funny for 1-3 month or if you underage though.

Well, I'll keep the first part of the story to myself, because it's a bit of a touchy subject to some Anons. But I was basically forced into therapy at some point and I went through lots of shitty tests and had to go to other departments etc etc and was diagnosed with psychopathy at the end. They didn't like me too much. ;_;

OP, get some computing/software development skills and work as an independent contractor from home. I get the best of both worlds: a lot of alone time and a decent income. I'm able to bet all of the games, figs, manga, VNs, new computers and consoles, etc plus put money into my retirement plan. The only time I head outside these days is to buy groceries or go to the occasional developer's conference in another city.

Define "skills". A degree pushes this beyond a reasonable timeframe, but if there's anything short of that, that'd be awesome. Also how would one get said independent contracting jobs to work from home? I've already got a lot of programming knowledge, I was just a dumbass and fucked myself academically so I don't have a little piece of paper proving it, and can't get one without years of classwork due to credits not transferring properly.

Hmmm, my brother is a musician and he DJs at a couple of clubs on the weekend for a few hundred bucks. Occasionally, he'll DJ at a rave or a private party for cash. Other times, he's gotten small contracts doing music or sound effects for local TV commercials. He probably works around 20 hours a week, makes enough money to pay rent, food, and new music equipment every few months. In his free time, he composes his own music, etc.

Me, I work around 50 hours a week and make way more than I need to live month to month. Besides, if I wasn't programming for a living, I'd be doing this as a hobby anyway while figuring out a way to live off of the government.

Anyhow, you need to lie to the test to avoid consequences. Better do that before they strap you to chair and give you needles and all. Note that a psychologist can be able tell if you lie about your feelings, so just admit that you are depressed or something and they'll focus on that instead of putting you in the psycho folder.

I work for startups that let me telecommute basically all the time, and dump all my stock when I think it's about to fall. Then I take a year or so off and repeat.

I was a NEET for two years, while it was an enlightening experience. I can't say I didn't feel like shit every now and then. Althought I wasn't getting money from the government so that might change things.
