Honestly, if I play crawlers, I prefer Experience. They are the best at dungeon design and, unless there's a bug, the balance is just right as well. Samefag here. Having just played 絶対女帝都市 yesterday, what I expected and what I got from these two games were inverted. I don't care much for the girls themselves in Zettai Jotei, but the 80s aesthetic and premise made me believe that it would have decent writing and possibly passable gameplay. I came for the plot. The writing was barely better than ctrl key-tier (not the absolute worst, but not good), and the "game" portion was less of a game than some pure VNs.

I expected a pure nukige with hollow characters from Sacrifice, and actually got some decent writing. The gameplay portion obviously isn't Sengoku Rance or even Utawarerumono, but it is an actual game, and it's better than Dieselmine RPGs (which are an obnoxious hindrance between you and the sex scenes, if you've never played them).

Also because of that the pacing is the worst of the whole series since you have several hours of just sex scenes and then the whole plot dumped in 40-50 minutes. If it's anything like Nukitashi, I have a couple tips.
Make sure you set your Windows power plan to "High performance," the game doesn't like power saving at all. Have your CPU run at 100% frequency all the time.
Nukitashi uses up too many resources but it doesn't seem to actually regularly drop frames for me.

What does happen is the menus are noticably laggy since they're polling for input.
You can detect this by quickly moving your mouse back and forth over the main menu; the mouseover events for thinner buttons will be missed more often.

If you're on a laptop you may be out of luck of course.

Kamikimi is seriously way too low effort. Every single route gets to sex 10 minutes after the route starts, so you can imagine how great the relationships works. No, tons of pointless and dreadful "story" with zero effort put into as well, and really nobody putting in research or trying to actually sell the story and shit they write. The routes feel all the same in that regard. If that stuff is so unimportant to anyone involved producing the VN, why is it even there?


This game is a wonderful example of why nobody wants to get into the medium anymore. Expensive and super low effort. If you want more than artificial cuteness and adult scenes, there's absolutely nothing to be found. It's kinda astonishing, how the game supports easy screenshots, yet I didn't even make one.
Given how all the writers have the exact same issues in this game, I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt, and assume the issue wasn't them but rather whoever made them write the shit in the exact way they did. It'd be a pretty huge coincidence otherwise, and it's kinda normal with moege as well. The general story flow and execution is so fucking awful, without anyone ever caring it makes sense or not, or if there are maybe other ways of looking at things. (especially with the idol stuff)

It sucks because their first title Natsu no Ame was actually quite good and they've only went downhill from there. Anyway with Kamikimi you can even tell from the plot synopsis it would be shit. Very low effort set up for h-scenes and nothing else. I like eroge more when the ero is actually integrated properly with the story, themes, and characters.
