The day of reckoning has come.
Only those who stayed true to the NEET ways will survive.
Either way, paradise will come.
It is time for us to move on to Gensokyo.

The Lunarian Superweapon.

As many know, April 1st of the year 2020 in the outside world, there was a violent virus released on /jp/. Following March of that year, many were in a state of panic, worry, shock, famine, immense sorrow and depression. All befitting of what the Lunarian Bunnies suffered in their “war” as the Lunarian officials would believe it to be.
Although not explicitly mentioned in the Scrolls mention of the Lunarian War, another battle came many years later. A small scale war with a Fairy. Clownpiece was her name. The one Fairy responsible for the single most humiliating defeat in Lunarian History. The battle ended in her victory, but the true war was only just beginning. Following their humiliating defeat at the hands of a Fairy, the Lunarians knew they could no longer play dirty. As a result, the Lunarians resorted to absolutely filthy and forbidden tactics that were banned by the Human race a little over two decades prior of their war in 1944. That was the use of chemical weapons and their over-reaching potential for high lethality and low regard for human life, let alone ethics.

The Lunarians would go on to construct a weapon, a bioweapon. Not just any bioweapon, but THE bioweapon. A superweapon if you will. This bioweapon was developed by the Lunarians for an unknown length of time and was not a physical asset like a bomb. It had a much higher lethality rate and would claim more lives than a nuclear warhead; a weapon that was used only twice publicly in 1945 that would later be put under tight restrictions to never be used unless circumstances so strict were upon them.

Even though they were defeated, the Lunarians weren’t idle in their years after Armstrong’s arrival. The Lunarians found out about where he came from upon further inspection. Deluded that they could follow him back and unleash a counterattack.
What they found was unexpected however. The Lunarians did eventually track him down, but they also found that he was not of Gensokyo. He came from not another world, but the same world they abandoned centuries prior. Earth. Earth outside of Gensokyo’s barrier. More specifically.
They found Armstrong, but they also found that the world they abandoned was the very same world that evolved to the extent of being able to remotely wipe out the moon with only minimal effort and the authorization to do so. With their advances being compared, the Lunarians really did have a moment to think on their decisions leading to that point.

Many years passed since their last encounter with a human from the outside world, and they knew that they couldn’t turn to the power that knew their secrets and dominated them in war as it grew stronger and more equiped to fight enemies on all front with even a rumored Space Force which would put them directly within Lunarian Territory. Considering the size of such a power and the deduction that they could not be alone, the Lunarians decided to do research and found two other prevalent powers. They could not contact the enemy that wiped them out, so they turned to the rival, but they couldn’t contact the rival after killing their messenger many years prior, which was coincidentally deemed a failed attempt as he died in space, unable to return to Earth. Luckily for the Lunarians, they had another option, a third option. This third option rival had zero morals or regard for human life, which made them ideal for the plan. Having made contact, they met a spirit whom they made a deal. An adversary in the outside world that could travel across the boarder. They came up with a plan together; it went as follows. The adversary would possess a human like they did in the case between Former Hell and the SDM, and have a human eat a certain animal which carried the genetically engineered disease. It was that simple plan that would become the Lunarian’s revenge on Planet Earth.

The Lunarians had it well thought out. The human would eat the animal, report it, then disappear. Simple. The adversary would be working within a country notorious for diseases so it would not be surprising to see that they once again created another virus that would plague humanity due to lack of common sense. With that in mind, the world would take action but quickly forget it. It just so happened that the planned course of events did happen. The disease would be forgotten after an “accident” released it to the public and after the initial wave, it would be forgotten for another 3 months. With its presence made known, and its existence forgotten, it could then pass into Gensokyo through simple rules. Yukari would deem the soul spirited away and she wouldn’t notice a thing.

Gensokyo had undergone a minor change in the time from the Lunarian war to the point of contact between Hecatia Lapislazuli and former Lunarian Soldier now Rabbit of Earth, Reisen Udongein Inaba. Makai saw a bloody end in tragedy, and the introduction of /jp/NEETS came soon after the Lunarians in the Bamboo Forest of the Lost made themselves known. The gateway into their safehaven and origin, /jp/ had been opened soon after the arrival. This among several other things shifted Gensokyo ever so slightly.
With the virus stealthily spreading in the outside world, it too had passed into Gensokyo in an incubation stage. With the virus unknown to many, it began to spread especially well around the time of Miyoi Okunoda’s appearance at the shrine. With the diseased human passing through long ago, it is safe to say the virus passed into the human village via association with the shrine through physical contact. This would lead to the missing villager who was supposedly returned in one piece, but what if I told you that the villager wasn’t so terribly drunk that he went missing and instead was sent to Eientei for treatment? I believe you and I both know where this is going.

With Eirin exiled through her own free will to live along with NEET Princess Kaguya, she became a doctor in Gensokyo. A trustworthy one. With the arrival of /jp/, she naturally became aware of their existence and the. Began a long history between Eientei and the humans of the outside world. After becoming aware of the virus through a /jp/NEET who kept his eyes on the news, it is unknown what truly transpired.

With no cure seen on the horizon in the outside world, a lone NEET believed he could save Gensokyo. Little did he know, he actually did. The villager who went missing so happened to be infected with the same virus to which was quickly eradicated albiet with a little help. With a cure in the books, Yagokoro Eirin worked fast and had an antidote to the Lunarian poison that plagued the Earth spread far and wide. Luckily, Miyoi was still having her fun, so everything went according to Eirin’s plan. Despite the rumors about Moriya Shrine still being contaminated through unique means, this was another win for Gensokyo. Another win for Gensokyo but at the time of it happening, this would not be the same for the outside world.

The Lunarians, having released a virus on the outside world in revenge, found their virus to be too effective. A modified disease that nobody had seen before. A disease on par with the previous scares from a decade prior of their time had broken loose. Their alliance had fallen apart as their link exited the agreement without warning as seen when the messengers from the Lunar Empire were subsequently shot down and their brethren cannibalized.
With many dying on all fronts, the Lunarians found surprise when they saw that their former ally held the ability to blatantly lie in the face of its equals. Of course they altered the numbers to make it seem like they, mere humans, cured the disease but the world knew better. This was a miscalculation for the Lunarians. They lacked experience in negotiating with a power that would kill its own people without a second thought. This wasn’t completely against them in the case as their former ally couldn’t let out that the bioweapon had been in development for months or else daunting consequences would follow. The virus was to be a Lunarian superweapon to weaken their sworn enemy, but one unforeseen effect only improved the Lunarians odds. The crash of March 2020.

To this day, we still do not know how they did it, but one thing is certain about the Lunarians. They want revenge and they will stop at nothing until they have it. Even if it means slowly eradicating an entire race with an artificially engineered bioweapon with no control over it.

Sources derived from retired Lunarians and those who defected during the events of Lunatic Kingdom and the written records of /jp/ from first person, primary source accounts of the incident.

It's the history the Lunarians don't want you to know... They would rather watch humanity slowly die than admit defeat... Do not fall to the Lunarian Menace /jp/..!
