I hate osu! so much. This was my very first rhythm game. I started in 2013 and was having such a blast. I logged in everyday and had genuine fun but then the cancer of this game hit me. I eventually started to improve a bit and my global rank increased drastically after each few map where I managed to do something somewhat good. It felt satisfying. I continued pushing for rank until hitting a point where you need to get relatively consistent scores on maps that are just not as easy as the regular FC farm maps that got me where I was (between 1k-5k, basically where everyone who plays regularly is stuck). The thing is, at this point, I stopped playing for fun a long time ago, I only played for rank. I was obsessed with my rank. I didn't care about real improvement, and not being able to increase my rank felt depressing. And this is what happens to about everybody in this game. I took a year off then started playing again, offline. My rank decreased so much that it would make me kill myself anyway. I rather play shit that gives me objectives to break through, but I lost the joy of 2013 forever and if the global rank didn't exist I'm pretty sure this wouldn't happen to anyone. Fuck this game.

Don't buy credits that aren't on the increment sheet at R1. I made the mistake of paying 80 thinking it would spit out a number proportionate to the $100 value, but it doesn't. Instead of ending up with 750 credits, i ended up with 436. Since I paid $80, they had to combine the $50 and $30 because apparently R1 runs on fucking ape software. I'm really mad that I thought skipping on paying the extra $20 would mean I'm missing out on like 90ish credits at most, not 3 fucking hundred.

All I know is Osu and Stepmania, if I have no access to Japanese arcade equipment what options are available for me to branch out to on pc?

Not much outside of playing arcade simulators on keyboard, which isnt too fun imo. But theyre free, so no harm in trying them out. Unnamed SDVX Clone, K-ShootMania, Beatoraja and Lunatic Rave 2 are the biggest ones I know. Then for actual PC rhythm games theres also EZ2On/Arrowgene which is cool but also a pain in the ass since its so old. Then you have DJMax, Musynx and Invaxion on Steam if you feel like actually spending money, though imo only DJMax is worth it unless you hate the music.
