These are the only sellers I know of. The first one doesn't have anything special right now, but he usually sells one nice full outfit a month. I don't think I've seen anything new on the second guy for a while now. You just got to learn to sew, or arrange an outfit around a simple bra like pic related. I have a billion doll photos to edit and no motivation to bother. Pic unrelated.

So we got some Otohimes.... They feel rougher than the more standard sized dolls and the posing is not as solid and smooth as internal frame dolls. Comparable to the older Pure Neemos except they can kneel. However I love that they are so light and given the size and them costing half what a DD standard would, they’re so fun. The brunette is mine, did the faceup since they sold out of the one I wanted.

Yeah the bodies are very slim. The realistic head seems more proportionate, but obv the anime head is more my style. Plus, if it’s stylized, it kind of can look any age between 3 and 10 so my clothing options are much wider. Most things I saw online said they wear 9 month clothing, but honestly it’s more like 3-6 month? They’re very slim. Baby shoes and socks fit perfectly though. Sadly we are in a locked down state so I can’t go get her new clothes, but once this is over I’m gonna have a hard time with the instant gratification of going in a baby store and getting dresses instead of waiting days/weeks for Etsy or Volks orders.

Entry level DSLRs are getting better and better. My used Nikon D3500 was only $300 and came with two kit lenses and I'm super happy with it. You don't need an expensive camera to start shooting dolls, since they don't move. I'd recommend investing in lighting though and things that let you shoot better, like a soft light kit and tripod.

When I feel like I'm good enough to upgrade, I'll probably go mirrorless rather than keep with a DSLR, though.

Both types allow swapping out lenses easily.
DSLR (digital single lens reflex) cameras generally have a thicker body because they need to fit a mirror inside. Most of the time, the mirror will be at a 45 degree angle and reflect the image into an optical viewfinder. When you take a picture, the mirror flips up and the shutter over the sensor opens.
Mirrorless cameras don't have the mirror. Instead, they usually have the shutter open and use digital displays to preview the image. They tend to be smaller (excluding some with full frame sensors) than DSLRs, but generally have worse battery life.
For taking pictures of dolls, the difference shouldn't matter too much.

The benefit of the electric view finder is the "what you see is what you get" aspect of it without spending too much time on getting the correct exposure.

It's true that it shouldn't make too much difference with dolls for most people. Just invest in light and lenses and props and backgrounds for your dollies to play with. That's my goal, anyway.

I have a mirrorless camera, specifically a Olympus PEN. I like that it is small, light, and technically advanced compared to a DSLR. But the smaller sensor means it's not as good in low light. The tradeoff is worth it for my needs, but if you want good performance indoors, you should look for a camera with a large sensor. They do make mirrorless cameras with big sensors, but mine is micro four thirds, which has a small sensor.

I'm personally looking to upgrade to a full-frame camera because I've found for my personal needs (both doll photos and other photos) it would suit what I want to do best.

But there are no wrong answers, and that's why I recommend starting with whatever you have already and practicing from there, anon, whether it's deciding to get a cheap dslr or pushing your phone to its limits. We all suck when we start out, and it's only by taking lots of photos and trying new things that we get better and figure out what we want to do. My earliest doll photos were so bad someone commented on how bad they were -- I can say without a doubt I've improved from there, and I've had a lot of fun along the way.

Whatever you do, you'll be just fine, anon. Don't worry about the details too much in the meantime.

i've been studying japanese on an off for about 4 years mostly on my own. because i was frustrated with not knowing where to go with my japanese studies i decided last december to take lessons with a private tutor in my area. it worked out great and i truly improved !

however because of the quarantine i haven't been able to follow any lessons and i don't really know how to study on my own anymore.

in the past i used srs systems a lot but couldn't maintain my streak over 2 months because it was too boring. i bought tobira and went through the first chapters but it's again kind of dull.

i'm not in a place where i can comfortably use my japanese easily (about n3 level) and this intermediate wall frustrates me. it seems so daunting and deep down i fear i won't be able to overcome it. i've lost motivation. i know i can overcome it, but there's a voice inside that gives up when i see how many kanjis, vocab and grammar that i still don't know. as anobody been there? what did you do to change your mindset and get back on track?

bored of just studying i would like to read more because i'm a bookworm. i don't particularly enjoy reading stories i'm more fond of self help books or about a certain topic and i can't seem to find many ressources about people guiding you throughout the process to acquire books about topics you like and not just light novels. what can i do to get my hands on digital books? websites in japanese are overwhelming.
