I think residents', and especially Remilias's attitude toward Sakuya is pretty consistent with ZUN canon. The relation between members of the SDM as portrayed in this manga is a lot more opaque compared to the fanon standard. This strangely oblique attitude with which Touhou characters regard each other with is present in Forbidden Scrollery as well. It's like there can be familiarity and even understanding between characters in Touhou, but their relation would always lack a sense of weight or substance somehow. Strange and Bright Nature Deity is about the only work where the main characters were consistently open and good natured toward one another, but they are fairies who interact with everything with childlike innocence.

I've always liked the weird ways characters react and interact in ZUNverse, so the bigger issue is that we didn't get to see more of Flan in this issue, who is finally getting some much needed characterization.

I think it's important to remember that Remilia really *IS* a child though, albeit an immortal one. Her title in EoSD is 'The Eternally Young Scarlet Moon", after all. Given that she doesn't physically age, there's no reason to believe she mentally or emotionally ages either given that those are both tied at some level to physiological development. Remi is an eternal child, with all the consequences that entails.

That having been said, there are hints in canon that she is a bit like Yuyuko, who also acts whimsical and tends to know more than she lets on (e.g. Patchouli stating in SSiB that Remi knew the trip to the moon was part of some plot by Yukari, but decided to go anyway because it sounded fun). Compared to Yuyuko though, Remilia definitely does tend to indulge a bit more in her childish nature. She clearly enjoys being doted on by Sakuya, and even has no problem exhibiting it in front of others despite her reputation as a powerful and charismatic youkai.

The problem is Byak acts like she isn't, and acts foolishly/dangerously often, to the point of legitimately endagering others. She also doesn't even follow her religious ideals that strictly. I still think you overplay Byakuren's faults.
She does have arrogant streaks but it's not far above typical Gensokyoans who boast about their origin/power/view but overall is much nicer or not without flaw. Being full of themselves is also common behaviour especially during fights.
Also, being well-meaning and faulty doesn't really contradict each other. Byakuren definitely think buddhism is the best for everyone and I believe she spread her teachings more than just for her self-interest at least, but she doesn't have to be literal saint to hold that mindset.
All those things doesn't constitute Byakuren to be "awful". It's just doesn't reflect the image of a martyr she once was or peak of enlightenment she never claim to have and is obviously still working on it. As far as attitude and competence goes she's no worse than other 2hus, perhaps slightly better since many people do look up to her and Myouren temple does become popular with both human and youkai, and more characters keep getting associated with it for some reason.

Aside from running a temple known to have its youkai residents attack its human disciples, during the ULiL incident she ignored what others were saying and perpetuated the incident by attempting to seal them, fucking up and spreading them once more after they'd been gathered. While the ULiL incident was never actually resolved, she did no favors by increasing its lifespan at the time.

Gensokyo is free, you can't stop people for preaching. She has been criticized for running a dangerous temple, however, and you can't handwave this since her whole thing is saying they aren't dangerous and inviting people there

Kasen and Yukari aren't police and only act within their own interests. So long as people aren't dying or being severely wounded she's in the clear, but people ARE regularly attacked there.

I finished all ULiL story modes and I don't remember anyone make a fuss over Byakuren, except Miko who told her sealing the balls does nothing. Byakuren doesn't even appear much in most of the characters story mode and all dialogues involving her are mostly mundane.

No, the whole thing about urban legends was that any of them could become real. The Lunar ball was basically the source of everything and the reason no one could resolve it, yes, but the effects of it were already known/explored in WaHH and such with Yukari casually starting a rumor that could have caused the apocalypse. While no one knew the exacts of things during ULiL, the effects (rumors become real) were pretty much known off the bat, and how to transfer them. Just saying that Byakuren wasted time while Miko was figuring things out a bit more thoroughly.

This is just a thought, but if you think about it, coffee isn't exactly a weak, drink. Consdering how Patchouli has terrible health to begin with, couldn't it be possible that she simply fainted a little when she over-exerted herself casting a spell after drinking too much coffee too quickly? Even healthy folks could get a little dizzy and lightheaded if they drink a whole large cup of coffee too quickly.

If this was the case, it would technically mean that Sakuya was responsible, even if she had no malicious intent or did anyting that wasn't a part of her usual daily routine.
