English Vocaloid is amazing when done well. Maybe I'm BIASED because I like understanding what they're saying but it's so novel and amazing they can sound that good and be articulate. The thing I see a lot is English Producers fall into a few categories:
1. Good Producers with Good Articulation and Grasp of English and Mixing. Native/NonNative speaking. (Rare)
2. Foreign P's who are not native speakers but make songs in English and struggle with some articulation. (Uncommon)
3. English P's who are native speakers but are horrible at composition, lyrics and tuning. (Common)

Category 3 is the bulk of Youtube's recommendation. As a few examples from what I see.

I can't say I like that Ferry song either. I know him for that hardbass song. It sounds like he just threw the lyrics in with 0 tuning and used it as is. It reminds me of when I tried using UTAU with Teto English and it would sound something like this when the program loads up your lyrics and you have to tune it after to actually make it sound like singing or it will just quickly read it out but it won't sound like normal speech either. The controller is fantastic and solidly built. I got the arcade component switches and buttons so emulation of buttons is 1:1 and you can actually beat on it because it has a cast metal case. The thing ways like 20lbs.

The only things I don't like are;
*The springs are not arcade standard. Not sure what they used but I had to swap them with 200g sanwa's like arcade. Much better, stock springs aren't horrible though.
*Slider is a little unreliable. You'll play four or five songs without issue and all the sudden you'll go for a slide and it will get 'stuck' and not stop sending slider input until you touch it again or you'll slide and it'll light up because it detects your finger touching the pad but will just drop the input.

Aside that, it's worth it. The best arcade controller to date. The only thing I will need to wait and see is how the Hori Megameeks compare. But yeah, wish slider input was more reliable. The issues occur at random and are absolutely jarring because they'll just fuck your shit up. See webm for details.

Very pleased the girl they have demonstrating the Hori controller literally misses every. single. slider. Every single one. Insane. Even when she played that Kaito song on normal she missed every slider. I'm just watching to see how the slider behaves especially now that I know they pushed an update it makes me curious what it does differently and she does a spectacular job of fucking that up every time.

I got my Hori FT PS4 controller and had time to play a song before I had to go to work. Initial impressions are good; it looks great, the slider is really nice, the lights are responsive. I didn’t pass the song I played, but that’s because I didn’t recalibrate lag before playing. The biggest issue is that I’m playing on my western/English copy of FT which of course has not been updated to work with the controller, or at least not in arcade mode. It still works, it’s just I have to be careful with the slider. Hoping they update all versions of FT. I’ll probably play more when I get back, assuming I’m not playing Mega Mix.

I can't say that I hate Mega39's. In fact, I like it a lot.

Don't forget they closed down their overseas operations. So her international expansionist campaign was a failure. Her game did well if you ask me. At least that is what I assume if it was sold out everywhere but it had the fatal flaw of being on the Vita, a now dead system only ever somewhat relevant in Japan. If it was on PS4 maybe it would have been localized eventually.

I'm not sure designs are that important (besides maybe the archetype and if it's not just terrible). IA like you said has a great design but it didn't help while Miku who had a decent (though high effort) design which then became iconic. Gumi is also kind of ugly (in particular the original box art) and turned out much better.

Now that I think about it, I was wrong and Miku design is actually brilliant. It was very detailed (all the Yamaha keyboard inspiration which will probably go unnoticed and will disappear in NT) but at the same time having very simple key traits (extremely long straight green/blue hair, twintails, tie) which allowed people to just draw any twintailed girl and it will be easily recognized as Miku. You can't do that with IA or GUMI as easily, so many songs just go full OC with the characters (even Kagerou Project has a Miku but no IA).

I would guess a lot, the musicians that play are a bunch of no ones.

The main vocalist isn't real, so I would guess usually this would be the 70% or more of the cost. But with Miku it is 0%.

The equipment is much more expensive than the usual mid-range concert though, and they have to MoCap songs, pay the rights to the models to SEGA (which is why they are replacing the model in new songs) and pay for the rights to play each song to the respective producer. They possibly have to pay to Yamaha as well (or maybe not since they never call it Vocaloid concert but Miku concert).

I assume one concert is much more expensive than the usual concert, but since there is a lot of reused resources, the more concerts they do the more profitable each one becomes (as long as there is enough public to offset the model, songs and band fees). They also get some extra by selling the official tour BD at japan prices, merch and more visibility to the brand to sell all the other products.
