So though it is going to be a rough ride, there is a way for 12k yen to get from Osaka to Yunokami-Onsen. First 9 hours on a night bus Osaka-Kyoto-Niigita, then a 2 hour long bus ride to Aizu-Wakamatsu and then the train from Aizu-Wakamatsu station to Yunokami-Onsen for around 30-40 minutes. I guess I will have to do this some day. Possible not even this year, but we will see. Will probably plan it with extra exploring of the locations along the way there and culminating with a video recording of the train ride and the two stations as a whole and whatever else.
I am not sure if Google has all the correct information on the buses, so I will have to research further.
That is if the wu flu doesn't fuck me or us over.

~11 hours on buses a dream journey? But I guess you mean getting to these places. Being based in Tokyo would have made it a bit easier, though probably not much cheaper, but cannot be helped.
I will definitely try to take photos/videos of cool train places around Osaka, Koyoto and Kobe. I will be living nearby a monorail that I will be riding into the Osaka. One of its close stops is fused with the coolest shopping street (closed style) that I might have ever seen.

Things falling off the walls and ceilings, lamps that look like they are about to hit people on the head swinging, but no one is getting under the tables.
Weird.

I wonder how much people was saved by the tsunami warning system and people just being aware of the risk, even if the warning was only a few minutes in some cases and some of the evacuation areas were actually washed away too.
Compared to the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami for example where most of the heavily hit areas received no warning at all and suffered much higher casualties.

More Osaka Stuff:
https://www.cametan.com/area/osaka.html
3 pages of cameras. One of the ones I found is this Buddhist temple ones:
http://www.nakayamadera.or.jp/live/
You have to scroll a bit to see the camera choice. The ones in red are turned off during the late/early hours.
They are listed in the github, but there is this cool street full of cameras, they are in Soemon-cho on the other side of the dotonbori river/street: http://soemon-cho.com/active/camera/

A list of river cameras to check on the water levels. Update only once every minute.
http://www.osaka-pref-rivercam.info/
Some of them have a bit more view than just the river. Like you can see the little bridge here: http://www.osaka-pref-rivercam.info/kita/23.html or two bridges here: http://www.osaka-pref-rivercam.info/toubu/21.html
The red ones are not turned off, so I don't know what blue and red mean.

The pic is from the one above or more exactly this one: www.river.go.jp/kawabou/ipCamera.do?gamenId=01-0710&cameraId=22068008

https://livecam.asia/osaka/
https://livecam.asia/osaka/osaka-chuo/anicom-sompo-kinki.html - some office, it is suppose to start at 9 (1 hour and 40 minutes), hopefully not as blurry as the example picture

https://eonet.jp/highway/
https://livecamera.fujiyamasan.com/osakafu.html
https://ihighway.jp/pcsite/map/?area=area06 (has self-made time lapses)

In short, I guess writing in a search engine ライブ カメラ and then the name of a city in Japanese does help finding all sorts of random stuff.

Yes. And actually red doesn't mean it is down. Only the 八重桜 one is down. The name is tree related and the other two red ones are of trees too.
I actually got confused by this one http://www.isshinji.or.jp/camera2/index.cgi Different temple that was looking at. The outside camera on the left is giving an error. The one on the left is saying it is suppose to start at 8, so in 25 minutes. We will see, I guess.

the best time to start is yesterday. I've done half-assed study for two years and still can't read well as a result, but I can navigate my way around jp stores with the help of plugins like Yomichan to tell me what new kanji mean and how to say them.
even if you have brain damage you can learn hiragana in a week and then force katakana in just by reading loanwords
and when it comes to technology, there are an absolute ton of (english, but not always) loanwords. like live camera = ライブカメラ.
but take my advice, never set foot in /djt/ on this board, they're basically all tripfags eating eachother's shit and wallowing in irony.

don't fall into the idiot trap of those game-y apps and websites like duolingo. they're there to make it take as long as possible while gating progress behind shit like achievements and levels.
if you have true interest in deciphering runes, you can do all of it for free with a litany of apps like anki (vocabulary flashcards) and there's plenty of ways to get pdf scans of textbooks too.
people hammer home "consume native content" because it's the best way to start paying attention to words you hear and read.

for me, that was typhoon coverage in the summertime, and learning the difference between words that all translate in J-E dictionaries as "damage" but have subtle differences in meaning.

破損 is for small objects like dishes. You can write "破損した家財道具" to say household furniture, tools, etc. were damaged. Not the house itself.
損壊 is only for big destruction like buildings, towns
損害 and 被害 are similar meaning. They mean damage detrimental to people, like loss of money or goods. financial damage etc due to robbery, fraud, etc. It is never used for human life.
破壊 is also the 'image' and concept of destruction, such as 'culture destroys language' 'war results in only destruction' and similar abstract usage. but is usually for large scale damage to environment, civilization, and living areas.
浸水 is water inundation entering an area.

I relate to that. I haven't honestly sat down to watch a new anime in ages. A tax when purchasing which I think was 5%, annual tax based on engine size and then at inspection there's a tax based on weight. Makes the smaller cars much better options for daily driving as they have a much reduced yearly rate. Driving a larger vehicle is also a pain as a lot of roads in towns/cities are really tight for driving on.

>>23122909
I'm from the UK originally. You pay once per year and it's based on age and emissions. Also the car culture is one of my favourite things about Japan, and I still need to get back to Ebisu at some point.
