I'd like to note that clothes and armor don't have much variety in defensive properties. You get to choose from a lot of different looking dresses for the same 1 or 2 points of defense. So people aren't all wearing the same suit because it's the best one.

(Armor is still more effective than clothes though)

the only thing I regret putting points into is Icebolt. Once you learn how do defend and counter it's so terribad it's depressing.

That being said, the majority of my points are split between Combat Mastery and Smash, with a couple in Defend, Counter, and Critical, and a couple Rank F life skills.

icebolt is useful when the enemy uses counter... unless you want the monster to rape you when it cancels the counter. Or you could have a staring match and hope it attacks before you run out of stam... Either way, you're screwed when facing more powerful enemies without icebolt. Also, defend isn't all powerful, the more powerful monsters smack right through it for 20-40 dmg.

Different counters for different mobs.

Fire counter can be done on ANY monster.

The advantage of Ice is that it costs less mp. Only works well on certain mobs. I also hope you're doing it right: Ice bolt is only to stun a relatively slow mob long enough for you to cast counter. How fast? Let's just say I could do it on wolves. Also, if the enemy is immune to magicks, IT WONT WORK AT ALL.

it's pointless to level Resting past E. E is about all you want it at since all levels afterwards only recover your wounds 0.2/sec (meaning 1 wound healed every 5 seconds instead of 10 seconds with rank f).

Anyways, counter C is an absolute must. Defend sucks later on because you can still end up taking like 40 damage while defending if the enemy crits you. But with counter-attack, you never take any damage from melee attacks.
