Really? Before the event started I didn't expect to be able to do Hard mode at all. I thought the previous event would be good for a first medal, since it was small scale. But I was missing too many bonus ships, and Nelson. I spent all my resources farming for Nelson instead. Then after the event, expecting months before the next as usual, I kept staying below softcap, doing Saratoga LSC. When this event started I only had around 120k fuel, so I already assumed I was doomed for Hard mode. However E-1 through E-4 were easy, and I didn't miss out on anything by choosing Medium for E-5. And for once I had all the important meta ships, except Nelson. If I had Nelson Touch instead of Colorado I would have almost definitely cleared Hard.

Complete your one-time quests because they usually reward screws and useful equipment. Also your weeklies because they also give you screws, which is obviously important for upgrading equipment. There has to be a balance in resource gathering and sending sorties, make sure you at the bare minimum break even each day if you play every day or you can go all out in resource gathering one day and the other day split it in half with sorties/expeditions.

By next event you should raise up the following:

DDs: Shigure, Shimakaze, Yukikaze, maybe Akatsuki, maybe Shiratsuyu
Shigure and Yukikaze are for torp bosskilling due to their luck, Shimakaze would appreciate some levels, Akatsuki is a decent DD that doesn't need a BP, and Shiratsuyu is pretty good although she'd need an action report. Considering where you are right now, I think it'll be alright.

CLs: Abukuma, Sendai, Abruzzi, Ooyodo, Yura, maybe Jintsuu
Abukuma is obvious, Sendai comes with yasen gear, Abruzzi and Ooyodo are very good four slotters, Yura is obvious, and Jintsuu is good in terms of raw power. Give priority to Abukuma.

CAs: Tone, Maya, Myoukou, Ashigara, maybe Choukai, Mikuma
Tone is very close. Maya is very important for AACI and she doesn't require a BP, she'll be one of your most important CAs. Myoukou and Ashigara are very strong and worth the investment, Choukai is great but requires a BP. Mikuma is for the 20.3 #3.
Maybe if you have a spare BP you can give one to Suzuya, but she's fine as is.

(F)BB(V): Mutsu, Haruna
Mutsu should get a BP after Yura and Abukuma so she can touch. Haruna's working her way up so you can give priority to her over Kirishima. Yamashiro is nice but she doesn't really need a BP yet, I guess.

CV(L)s: Shoukaku, Souryuu, Hiryuu, Chitose
I hope you have a catapult, since Shoukaku would really appreciate it. In fact, perhaps she would be a better candidate for a BP over Mutsu right now? Not sure. Hiryuu and Souryuu give you amazing planes, so I highly recommend you raise them. Chitose is a good CVL.

You should give your next BPs to Tone, Abukuma, Yura, Mutsu, and Shoukaku over anyone else from where you are.

I can't provide anything to save you from this event but here's some general ideas on what you should level in the short term future (admitedly written from the perspective of an Early Fall '18 newfag) .

Get Arashio to K2, let Yuki gain some extra levels since you are gonna need a good TCI pretty much every event, on that note, get Shigu to k2 as well. You might wanna get a couple more strong surface combat DDs like Shira K2 and Tanikaze for OASW.

Besides that, level your CAs and CAVs, all of them. Events lock them in droves as you might have seen.

For Cls, besides ABKM, level Kuma, she's got really good stats for a Kai CL,then go for Sendai (night equips are good), Abruzzi has good stats as well.

In terms of BBs? Finish leveling the Bongo sisters and get the Ises, then level them to their rather low Kai lvl, Ise k2 is a good long term project.

Cvs: Kaga and Hiryuu to kai then Shoukek to K2 since armored carriers are a god send (get Zui asap). Ark is kinda trash despite the night memes with the swordfish.

In terms of CVLs, get Zuihou and get to k2, Junyou to K2 as well and get a dupe Chiyoda cause you need more fast CVLs.

Obnoxious fanservice aside, Mao Lane designs trigger me for multiple other reasons:
-The vast majority of the girls look like galge heroines with the rigging in the background. If you look closely at their design, it looks as if the girl and rigging were drawn separately and their layers have been overlapped at the end of the drawing process. Their equipment or historical references hardly blend with the character.
-The art style gap between the girls is even wider than what we got between Shibafu and Yoshinori. A good portion of the scrubs look like your usual outsource gig given to a grunt.
-Design consistency is nonexistent. You can tell St Louis, Honolulu and Zara were designed by the same guy due to the art style and uniform, but the actual ships don't really share similar appearance whatsoever, so it just doesn't make sense.
-Fucking memes like deal with it glasses and whatnot

You could just give them fancy names and remove the naval aspect of the design and it wouldn't have changed anything in the actual product.

This is a thing with many AL girls yes it's probably because the artists of certain girls aren't good at drawing or designing mechanical bits, so they don't. Probably why Tanaka hires so many experienced mecha musume artists
