I've never really had a problem with fujoshi. I was friends with one and I never remember and her and her other fujoshi friends being too over the top about it or anything, at least not much, and this was at the age it would be expected. Like >>22741238 and >>22761448 said I feel a lot of the negative attributes associated with fujoshi are a product of teenagers being teenagers and a lack of social skills, and those sorts of things don't really seem to be a thing these days anyways.
I get that non-fujoshi female otaku exist, but in the west they seem to not, or be super rare, so here at least I feel fujoshi are generally the closest equivalent to male otaku, and I respect their passion for the things they like. It may also help some that I do enjoy gay doujinshi, but I've never really read longer more romance focused BL manga, so I can't say if I'd enjoy that sort of thing or not.
