Just downloaded Umineko and trying to install. Fuck you unicode.

So, i've downloaded AppLocale, copied all the files from the mounted Umineko image into a file on my harddrive and launched the installer in Japanese.

I click the 'Install' (atleast, I hope it means install) button as the other two are greyed out, and i'm greeting with more motherfucking unicode. I proceed to install anyway and as expected the game stops installing after a certain number of files. How do I make AppCuntale sort out more than just the options screen?

Help a broseph out.

I'M GREETING TOO

Switch to Japanese you silly goose. AppLocale is shit and inconvenient.

I installed it just fine in Nipponese with AppLocale.

Maybe you should stop having the gay.

OP here:

I don't want to switch to Japanese unless it's completely necessary, restarting whenever I want to install something is frustrating. Is there no way I can get AppLocale to work its magic?

OP here:

Here's what happens, incase you misunderstood.

Guess i'll switch to Japanese for now, fuck.

Applocale is for fags.

Just go into your regional settings and set your system locale to Japanese.

If you REALLY can't get AppLocale to work and REALLY don't want to enter moon mode, get vmware and run a dedicated mooninite windows installation inside it.

>> No.2273135

I had the same problem, OP, and I fixed it by switching my system locale to Japanese and installing. Sorry.

>> No.2273145

Switch your regional settings to Japanese and keep it like that if you don't want to miss out on a bunch of the music.

>> No.2273153

You don't have to switch back to Jap. I did it with Applocale and it worked fine, except i had to copy some jap files manually from the mounted image

>> No.2273156

Run installer in applocale, and run the game in applocale, after the install is done, make sure to copy all files with moon in their name, such as lots of BGMs, otherwise they won't play, as the installer fails copying them. Install the translation patch in a separate directory inside the game folder ( do not overwrite any files ) and run the onscripter-en.exe in that folder.
I managed to play through chapter 1-3 without any issues using applocale.

>> No.2273165

OP thinks changing to Japanese locale actually changes stuff? It is 99% the same, except it changes / or \ to the yen sign. Oh, also, if you play Age of Kings, it will play the Japanese voices, which is pretty cool. Not sure if any other games do that.

Since I switched to jap locale, I've never had to change back.

It changes stuff if you actually do any developing and work with CLI utilities a lot. Japanese console fonts are fugly.

Yeah, there's a few other pieces of software that will run in japanese. But it's not really an issue.

I keep it on Japanese all the time, and it generally doesn't make any difference (although one of the Atlantica patches made the game no longer run if I wasn't set to English, but I don't play it anymore anyway)

I was having issues connecting to our print server and so my dad and I were working on getting things configured, and he was all "What's up with this symbol here?" when he saw yen signs in place of backslashes. I had to convince him that it was just a cosmetic difference and wasn't fucking things up.

Having it set to Japanese also made my Excel reconfigure (which was necessary anyway for properly viewing spreadsheets with Japanese in them), although I'm using a fucking 8-9 year old version of it so that might be a problem too.

It also makes Megaupload give me a Japanese version of the page.

Don't want to live with Japanese locale just for Umineko?

1. Change locale to Japanese, restart computer
2. Install Umineko
3. Change locale back (if you like), restart
4. Use AppLocale to play Umineko (run in "XP compatibility mode" on Vista)
5. Profit!
