While not a fan of milk tea myself, I'd suggest doing like I do when forced to go outside. Take a nice container for when you feel the need to sip tea.
It wasn't the first time that a teacher came to me and asked me to bring some tea herbs for him next time too. Although I've also had to put it away on occasions due to sometimes having a smell powerful enough to make people want to drink it too.

As for the milk, you can easily buy it on your way home, it's not expensive. Or if you happen to live like I do, go outside and milk some cows.

Chai is, to me, associated with Indian Food. This means the deliciousness inherent knows no national boundaries.

Unfortunately, I live on-campus. They sell milk, but 22 oz costs about half as much as a full gallon would if I could just get into town. That, and I have yet to actually brew a cup of the stuff because it's loose-leaf and I haven't got much in the way of tea-making implements. I COULD do it with what I have, I'm just not very confident in my ability.

As for brewing Tea, I have been doing it as long as I remember quite instinctively, mostly noticing when it's good on smell, so I can't give decent explanations, but I do recall something my mom would say when I was young >"Boil the water and after that, turn off the heat and let your preferred type of leaf soak the water until the initial steam subsides"< or something along those lines. The ability is pretty much taken out of the equation in that, even my young cousin who can't prepare any food to save his life makes quite a decent tea.

On the topic of loose-leaf types, unless someone didn't end up stealing my tea-net over family gatherings, I usually tend to fashion myself a quick one using makeshift tools found around in my kitchen. After all you don't need to make a masterwork to let the herbs dip and spread the taste in the water.

After all "until the initial steam subsides" is quite ambiguous and not really helpful unless you know exactly what that person meant.
