you can clearly tell based on the shadow from the stair itself that she is walking towards the light (up), the stair case wouldn't cast those half shadows if it is going downwards.
yes she does look like she is in a weird posture there, but the other case the stairs look like they should be going up, it looks way too steep for a stair case to be this high if it is going down.
