If it helps you any, I think Shiki realizes the problem and tries to do something about it. When they're going on the trip, he says Arihiko will probably force them to take him with them. It's probably an excuse to get Hisui to socialize with someone other than Shiki, which will hopefully result in her integrating herself to the world.
