I've said it before but the problem with difficulty selection is that it puts people who want the biggest challenge and people who just want to collect the new equipment in the same boat. there's no reason except for elitism to make the best planes hard only. that's what meme medals are supposed to be fore.

- Give good equipment in easy mode and above. That is, equipment reward is now standardised throughout the difficulties)
- Players will still choose their difficulties regardless of equipment reward

That's my biggest problem with this event as a new player. I worked my ass off to finally catch up and start playing events on hard starting from Winter 2019. And now I find it's literally impossible to debuff the boss, even if I craft max improve all of the quarterly interceptors, because fuck you for not starting earlier.

The problem with standardizing power rewards is there's players who will say "What's the point of sacrificing all these resources and putting in all this time and effort when I can get the best stuff so much more easily? Only idiots play on anything above newbie mode." Once that happens, statfags guys get bored of the game, and the community self-destructs because lazy, bored fags are objectively correct that it's mechanically optimal to play on the boring easy mode, and people who do challenges are putting themselves at a resource disadvantage.

The solution is to keep the gap between top rewards and always available common stuff moderate so that the commoners can still scrape by with enough effort. Land-based fighters broke this guideline.

Not everyone plays 甲 difficulty. Some people play differently, maybe somewhat lax and stress-free, and have different objectives in mind. Heck, it's a collection game in the first place.

Anyway, regarding the whole difficulty debacle: you can get the new girls on any difficulty and you need to remember completing the ship pokedex should be your primary aim. The whole memedals and shit are secondary objectives for those who are nearing the completion of the main ones and those who have the capability to farm on higher difficulties for better chances. Sure shiny new equipment looks nice and all but the girls are the priority.

Welp just cleared E3 w/o debuff. Don’t know how autistic you have to be to say E2 was the most challenging part when I cleared LD w/ Fast STF in 2 runs w/o FF.

Meanwhile E3 took around 20+ runs. Due to no toukais/no good LBAS/ no jervis/ bad crit or armor rolls. Anyways not a medelet anymore. Guess I can congratulate myself for taking only a year, since I started this draconian game, to get my first mememedal.

Assuming you got both Reppu Kai from the previous event, and you pick quest selections to maximize LBAS defense, you still cannot get 1241 AP to get the hard debuff. Its actually really close at 1239. One more Hien or 1 more Spitfire can swing it.

There is nothing more you can do in E2 unless you have luckmodded gaijin boats. For E3, Jervis and Fletchers all can 1shot the boss, 1attempt is all that you need considering how OP that the FF is. You only have a 40% chance to penetrate the E2 boss armor hence you got the epic fail webm where all the boats just miss their TCI since they are unable to penetrate her armor.
It is just like the Leyte event, the final boss being a pushover compare to the midboss.

After that you have to take a gamble on that ship that just got chuuha'd, would survive the nu carrier or Tsu torp. Guess what there's more after you get past that crap, you have a random air node that seems to always target the ships that is 1 breath away from taiha.

When you arrive at the boss with 2 of your 4 tcis in a chuuha'd state and see your fleet get further decimated since your ass LBAS didn't even manage to take care of the destroyers/imps you start wondering why people were having a difficult time w/ e2.

I'm not complaining though since that's what Tanaka wants to design the game after and its not like me complaining about not having fossil equips will force him to give it to me.

This may apply to me only, but, I much rather make it to the boss and do absolutely nothing with a healthy fleet and blame bad luck on the armor rolls then not even have a decent chance to survive the nodes before the boss.

I started 2 years ago and I can clear most events on all Hard these days but sometimes I'm just too lazy or scared to really make the push on the final maps. I do think they should make at least the minimum accessible outside events however. Other than that, Toukai outside event, that depends on how well T97 931 works, if it works well enough, then Toukai is a luxury, if it works like shit, then no. Even Toukai cannot take out subhime after all, so whats important is clearing the chaff.

I'll start, I think there should be 1 or 2 one time quests to convert bombers to something which has accuracy, it does seem that bombers with those stat are more reliable.
LBAS sortie planes seem to be fine, although if you don't have special Hayabusas you'll need taiteis to deal with it.
LBAS defense, I think they should add Hien into the quarterly. After all, Hien 1D and the Shiden 21 have a small, but significant difference. Like I said earlier, I did the calc for the current hard debuff, assuming you got the Reppu Kai earlier, which you should have if you're doing E3H, you'll still need Hien 1D as the Shiden 21 doesn't give enough AP.

This was my third full-hard clear event. Caught up with the blueprints last month. Kandex is missing only Amagi (who's never been an event drop) and Iyo. Number of one-time quests remaining is two (god zuiun and the B kai 4 gun). I can comfortably rank T500 every month.

This setup uses hard rewards from as early as Spring 2016 up to Winter 2018, but the total is a mere [(114+101+110+3)*1.3+101*8]*1.1=1357, leaving you 8 points short of being able to clear the gimmick. It's barely possible if you got the Reppu Kai Spring 2019 E1 or another 244th Hien from ranking.

If you DO have the super Reppus, and started playing before Winter 2018 at the latest, you can set up:

1) 352nd Reppuu (144), Reppuu Kai (127), Me 163B (110), Saiun (3)
2) Proto Shuusui (101), Raiden (101), 343rd Shiden (101), Saiun (3)
3) Spitfire MkV x2 (97), +10 Iwamoto's Zero Fighter (84), Saiun (3)

which makes (144+127+110+101*3+97*2+84+3*3)*1.1*1.3=1388

The Raiden and Spitfires are selectable rewards from F80 and F81, so you have to lose the Toukai and Reppuu 11 in order to do this. If you don't get them from there, the next replacements are a Raiden from the New Year's quest and the Spitfires from Spring 2017

On the left, I used the simulator to try sending 4 Toukais (2 from Fall 2017, 1 from Winter 2018, and 1 from the quest) against the SS Princess and 3 elite So-class in echelon formation, which is the most common (and most dangerous) enemy spawn from E3F. On the right, I simulated sending 1 Toukai and 3 931st Air Group T97 bombers against the same. This is the best alternative that isn't time restricted, although to get it, you'd have to burn blueprints by farming Ryuuhou. None of the the simulated ships have ASW gear because you're not going to face LD with that shit.

You can see the 4 Toukai base actually has a 19% chance of outright killing the entire enemy fleet before the battle even begins (represented by the simulator displaying air parity instead of air supremacy). The taiha/chuuha rates are about halved compared to the newbie base. The chance of getting an S-rank rises from 0.1% to 25% (a 250-fold increase). There's a world of difference between a player who has 4 Toukai and someone who doesn't.

But, at least in this event, you still have the option of praying for the line abreast enemy spawn. Winter 2019's submarine node always came in echelon formation.
