I really like these character designs. The first game's character designs didn't really hit my strike zone. They weren't bad or anything, but I found myself preferring most of the side heroines. Miho was a favorite so I'm glad to see she's been upgraded to main heroine status here, and I love the look of all the other girls. I share your feelings on this. I'm generally a vanillafag, but I still like Miel games, because they don't focus on tormenting the girls and instead have them come around quickly, so everyone involved is happy with whatever goes on in the game. Kenzen is based on a web novel by the scenario writer Yakata Soukei. He's the one who pitched the game and asked Butcha to do the art and said it himself. Butcha was a fan of said novel and did some fan art for it, which is why they got him back to do the art for the game. It's not his creation though.

Anon no. Hibiki Works is just a label that AkabeiSoft uses and they're very much still alive. There have been longer waits between Hibiki Works titles and when you look at what the usual staff are doing through AS, it's clear why.

Figure this is the best place to ask - I'm looking for a game where you play a dragon. It was a mostly text based game, but there may have been some minor graphics. There were stats and the like, and I remember capturing some kind of character, and raiding an elven outpost or something like that. You start inside some dungeon or something like that, and a good chunk of what I played was inside the dungeon, and the outpost was after I left, I think. The only other thing I remember is that I got the link from 4chan as well, and that it may be pretty obscure.

I've searched around quite a while for this game, and while something like Defiler Wings is slightly similar in concept, it was of higher quality and you start as a hatchling, I think.

Their release schedule has been one game per year for a long time, and the only exception to that was Natural Vacation and that's because it wasn't drawn by Tasuku and didn't have any of the usual staff working on it either. It's important to understand that Hibiki Works isn't actually a company, it's just a name that Akabeisoft 2 publishes a specific subset of games under. The staff that usually work on Hibiki Works titles have been doing a few games under the Akabeisoft 2 label as of late, but this is the norm, much like how in Natural Vacation's case staff that normally worked for Akabeisoft 3 (another label of Akabeisoft 2) worked on a Hibiki Works title.

One would be better off not to look at Hibiki Works' list of titles individually as a single company and instead group them with Akabeisoft 2's titles. Doing so will show you that there's been no slow in the number of game's they've been putting out. This also helps us understand why Onee-chan no Yuuwaku wasn't a full length game, yet was Hibiki Works' only title that year - Tasuku had worked on another game for Akabeisoft 3 (Shoujo to Toshi no Sa, Futamawari) and the staff that made Onee-chan no Yuuwaku also put out Charabration later in the year and Aa Mama ni Naru earlier this year.

The gap in Tasuku games, (which I should add still hasn't become the longest in his time working on Hibiki Works games; he didn't do a single release in all of 2016, likely because he was working on Niizuma) and the fact that since Aa Mama ni Naru the usual Hibiki Works staff haven't worked on anything else publicly announced points towards the likely possibility that they're working on a new full-price game, with Tasuku as the artist. It's moronic to think they've gone under when Onee-chan no Yuuwaku dominated the charts and was still doing strongly in them months after release, and was voted as the game with the best character design last year. Their social media hasn't seen any hiatus either.

I agree that the guy seems like a rabid doomposter that doesn't know half as much about the industry as he claims to, but console ports have been a thing for years, anon. That said, they're very rarely ever done by the original devs, and they're just edited ports rather than original games so it's not a great comparison to make with Taimanin. Most console ports of eroge are done by independent developers from the original devs (almost always either Dramatic Create or Entergram) who they license the games from.

This Taimanin mobage is likely just them trying to put out a low effort cash in on the popularity of Taimanin and not much more. I highly doubt they have any intentions to abandon eroge, and frankly this game doesn't seem like it's going to eat up much in the way of resources anyway; it lacks story content, so the scenario writers aren't going to have their time taken up; it uses 3D models, and seems to have little in the way of 2D art, so the artists aren't having their time eaten up; and the development of a visual novel and a 3D mobile game are fundamentally different areas, so I doubt they even have any of their usual programmers working on it.

We're not really sure. They intended to bring Taimanin Asagi to Steam, but Valve didn't allow it. Supposedly it's because of underage characters, but I have a hunch Valve just doesn't want a game with that much rape on their platform. Sasayama announced Kagami's working on a new game that will be a similar style to Ochiru Hitozuma, and said he'd like for it to come to Steam, but that they had learned that Valve were strict against minors, and that they would "use that knowledge" in upcoming games. We don't really know what that means, maybe they intended for this new game to have a shota protagonist again but are now changing that to release it on Steam, or maybe they mean games after that. Not that anon, but I've definitely played games and thought to myself the writing is really erotic, and I've definitely also played games where the art and the voice acting may be totally on point, but the writing drags it way down. I think it's worth noting that the judgement of what is good writing in an eroge is obviously not the same as any other literary fiction - nobody's marveling at the prose of an eroge, for example. The goal of these scenes is to be erotic and serve as good fap material, so I guess I evaluate them based on how well they meet that goal.

For me, I think one of the qualities that make for good eroge writing would be for each sex scene to have an 'arc' of sorts - not like a character arc, but where intensity or eroticism ramps up as it goes on and reaches a climax (pun intended). It's really important for the eroticism not to be at max the moment the scene starts (looking at you, MilkFactory), because then it can't really go anywhere from there and I ultimately end up just wanting to skip through it because I feel like I've already seen all it has to offer. Building up is unfortunately not something that eroge writers are automatically good at. Keeping surprises from the reader and revealing them during the sex scenes is a great technique too - I don't mean plot twists, but catching the reader off guard with something sexy they weren't expecting. If I know exactly how the scene is going to play out from the moment it starts, it kills a lot of the excitement, so throw in some unexpected elements. On the topic of having an arc, I do think the same general character development expectations we place on fiction should apply to eroge - it's definitely a good idea to have each heroine change in some way by the end of the game, be it becoming more slutty, more open to sex, becoming less shy, etc. The most obvious example's a tsundere shifting to just being dere.

Another thing is to actually make the fact that the game is an eroge matter. Eroge shouldn't just feel like a story with sex scenes, at least nukige shouldn't. The two need to actually work together well. but it often feels like either all the story elements are just filler to justify it not being 100% porn and pad out the game's length, or the story and the porn feel totally separate and have virtually no ties to each other. I love when eroge actually use the two in combination well, and set up character drama in the story that gets paid off in the sex scenes. Onee-chan no Yuuwaku is a simple game, with very little superfluity in its writing, but it does an incredible job at making the story and the sex work together. It constantly sets up barriers in Yuu and Maaya's relationship, and then uses the sex scenes to break through them - it really feels like all the story content in that game works as set up to the sex scenes, and it makes the sex scenes so much more erotic.

And then there's the most obvious quality: vulgarity. Obviously this is the most subjective aspect, since we all have different ideas as to what's erotic, but in general I think most people would agree that sterile writing kills boners - it needs to be dirty, even if you're just writing a happy consensual romantic scene. This is where you tend to see a big difference in the writing style between moe games and nukige. It's not the case for all of them (for example, games like Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart, which has fantastic erotic writing), but a lot of moe games tend to play their sex scenes incredibly safe to the point where I find them incredibly difficult to actually get off to. Vulgar dialogue is great too, but it's important not to overuse it, because then it loses its novelty (it can be erotic to hear a girl call her asshole a ketsumanko but it doesn't stay that way after the 20th time). Don't overuse moans either - during fellatio scenes it can be a good idea to have a lot of non-dialogue where they just make noises with their mouths, since a talented VA can make a scene tenfold more erotic with these, but for ordinary sex, it's really frustrating when the girls' "dialogue" is almost entirely moaning - Tsurumiku games have a serious problem with this, even though I think the rest of their writing does tend to be quite good.

Anyway, I could probably go on but this post is long enough so I'll spare you. I don't really feel like I've done a great job at outlining exactly why some games have writing that feels so much more erotic than others, but it's definitely something I do notice on the subconscious level.

By erotic writing, the simplest way for me to explain is to say writing that is written in a way that would maximize my arousal. That includes how well obscene the dialogue is, how well the sounds, smells, and girl's appearances are described, along with touch as well; how good does the girls tits and p*ssy feel, what do they feel like? Unique fetishes and proclivities are welcomed as well, I really like when a girl has a specific thing that gets her going or a trait that makes the protagonist want to screw her.

The worst is what I consider generically written scene writing. In the end it is mostly going to be penis in vaginia, but it can be described better than "I thrust deep into her uterus!" "Your penis feels soo good!" "My dick enlarges and I pierce even deeper into her uterus!" x 100. For example, I kinda like Marine but their games are guilty of having this type of boring writing.
