ITT figure buying tips.

Tip #1: Don't buy a fig based on the show, buy it based on the quality of the fig. I've seen a lot of newbie mistakes where someone buys a complete gashapon collection of their favorite show like Gurren Lagann or Strike Witches only to be disappointed by the shitty quality. Only buy good quality figures, if you're stuck with a choice between mediocre figs of your favorite show or a well down fig from some mediocre show go for the high quality figure. You'll get more enjoyment out of it, I guarantee it.

Pic related to show you the difference.

Tip #2: Quality over quantity. If you're a beginner fig collector don't buy a bunch of gashapon figs just to build a big collection quickly. Figure collecting takes time and patients. A good collector knows when to wait for that one, special fig. If you end up buying too much in a short period of time they'll end up sitting in your closet collecting dust.

Depends on the seller, what show the figure is from, and how long the figure has been on the market. Some sellers from HK and China are legitimate sellers. For example: if you're pre-ordering a niche fig at regular price from a seller it's a pretty safe bet. However, if you're ordering a fig from a big title that's been out in the market for a long time it might be a bootleg. Also a lot of companies put holo stickers on their products so look for that. If it doesn't contain a sticker it might be bootleg.

Hire someone to stab someone else, then take them in.

Of course this is a tip for "newbies" but I don't see the problem in buying a gashapon set for a show I really like. Sometimes life is cruel and that's all they produce, so your favorite show gets crap while ikki tousen and evangelion still have figures made. There's also the issue of being a collector of specific series and trying to obtain as much of it as possible. In particular, finding anything mecha musume is rather difficult, considering the genre has very little except gashapon. But the gashapon designs themselves are interesting, if lacking any real posing or fine detail.

My first figure was a cheap $10 or so Matsuri from Ichigo Mashimaro I got years ago and to this day I still love having it around.

No seriously, why you fat nerds buy so many dolls? It's just a fucking waste of money, and all they're collecting is dust.

I have a better idea, save the money and get some new clothes and you might get a girlfriend. I doubt you're even care about figures after you have your first pussy. Time to get laid fellas.

So... If i'm deciding between a mediocre figure of Noriko Takaya or a great figure of Asuka Langley, you are saying its logical for me to get the Asuka?

So I get a really good figure of a character I hate and the one I want languishes alone?

What is your thought process here?

Both. The stabber as a mental patient, the stabbed as a regular patient.
