Are you a fan for playing the games? Because mostly all I ever see is silly little fan comics and fan art. Is that what it is to be a touhou fan? To like all the fan made shit instead of actually playing the games?

I dunno. I've played EoSD and I never feel like collecting fan art or other stuff, because there is no depth to any of the characters other than pre-boss battle dialogue.

I'm relatively new to the anime scene, first anime I ever watched was Ergo Proxy about a year ago. I didn't even come to /a/ until late last Summer, but I know all the memes. I even started the Kaiji is GAR meme.
