Opening new doors is the worse aside from the terrible closing doors movie length mini series.

The rest are great if you are into the that sort of thing really enjoying the marvel Autist in the current one.

I recommend starting with the original boys and girls next door. It starts slow and is long but is the most rewarding imo. Also there are spoilers and cameos of people from earlier series so best to watch them in order.

Watched Kiyoshi Kurosawa's new film, "To The Ends of the Earth", today and man that was a really good and gorgeous film.

I was especially surprised by Atsuko Maeda's performance, I didn't think she had it in her! I'd seen her in some drama's before and she hadn't really impressed, but here she shines. She perfectly embodies the feelings of isolation and going through the motions type of blues that I couldn't help but relate and empathise. Definitely gonna be watching more of her in future works!

Everything new is 1080p, as well as classic movies on bluray. If you're talking about tv shows then you're out of luck due to the demand for 70s-80s shows not being there unless they're well known classics. Somewhere in the 90s Japan started to cut costs dramatically and moved over to digital and the cameras that handled that weren't like they are today so the image is 480p at most. This camera quality persisted until around the 2010s which is when BD started to be adopted.
