The inner clothing I did as 2 pieces, one as a semi circle with the center cut out that served as the skirt, and the other piece as a rectangle with holes cut out for the arms
the vest was done as a rectangle with holes cut out as well, but this time i had sleeves attached, which are rectangles that i stitch around the hole, then i stitched on blue trim for all of that
the scarf was just a simple rectangle that i tied up like you would a scarf, then i stitched it in where the ends met so that it would be secure

Reisen with her black jacket is one of the rarest and more expensive fumos, due to her rabbit ears, or something along those lines, bootlegs of her really dont exist. bootlegs ARE common however for fumos with simpler designs, as for your rule of thumb, yeah stick with that, and if the only photos provided are factory photos, just ask for additional photos, if they are legitimate sellers, they will have no problem providing such

I would use color laundry detergent, the stuff you would use for clothes.

Skip the soap and use baking soda. Most soaps and detergents are too strong for plush fabrics and can cause bleaching. The video in the OP is a solid reference point, but I'm not too fond of using water so readily as it can deteriorate the stitching and fabric itself. Here's my personal list on how to properly take care of a plush, I've done this with many of my older softs, but the overall logic is the same for fumos.

1) Unpleasant odor but otherwise clean
- This usually happens if I leave a plush in a closed space for too long, like a tub or a chest, but it also works for other instances like if you ordered a plush from another country and there's just something off about the smell, even if it's unopened. It tends to be a mixture of stale air and minor dust that usually goes away as soon as you lightly shake it out. The easiest way to remedy this is to put it out in the sun and let it air out for a couple of hours, I usually like to do this with a clothesline and pin. The mixture of the heat of the sun, light, and fresh air will get rid of any musty smell. (This also works for books.)

2) Spot damage
- This is if your soft has some sort of blemish that's not uniform and only on one spot (ie: you put the plush on a dusty or dirty surface). First, pat away from the spot to try and get rid of as much of the larger particles out. You don't want to pat it in because it can trap unwanted debris into the fabric itself. Then, using some baking soda, just rub it into the same spot continuously and then vigorously shake it out once you've got it mixed in with the fabric. If a stain is particularly persistent or if it's a wet stain, use a baking soda paste with vinegar to brush and soak the spot. Usually, it's best to use a toothbrush for any sort of application of baking soda as it can rub surfaces more thoroughly than a finger can. Wash away after you let it sit for a few minutes and repeat until the spot is clean if need be. Usually, only one application is needed.

3) Uniform filth and grime
- If you take good care of your softs, you never really have to do this. However, I've ordered cheap softs from people who have neglected them and are practically covered in dust, soot, and wear, but I've been able to make them brand new again. Here's what I do:

First, brush down the entire plush with baking soda, rubbing it into every inch you can. The more filthy, the more vigorously. After that, I like to gently submerge the soft into a small tub of water and let it seep in there for a minute or so, in order for the water to be fully absorbed with the baking soda. After this, press down on your plush to take out as much water as you can while leaving it damp. Add another coating of baking soda on the exterior and take care not to pat out the soda too much. I follow this up by putting the plush into a pillow case with some extra baking soda thrown in on the inside. Make sure that your pillow case has no holes in it and tie off one end. I then put it into a dryer on a gentle, low heat seating. The left-over water and baking soda will cause outgassing and remove most impurities that are deeper than the surface of the soft. (You'll notice just how soft they truly can be after you take it out!) After this, wash off your soft but don't submerge in water, just enough to get it damp (squeeze out any excess water) and take off as much of the excess baking soda as you can. Repeat the dryer in a new pillow case set to the same setting, no baking soda this time. Finally, take out your newly clean fumo! I highly recommend letting them dry out on a clothesline or at least by a warm place with natural sunlight so you can also remove any lingering odor of baking soda.

Hey fellow fumo friends! Was wondering if anyone might be able to help me out with a bit of a dilemma.
I'm going off to college next week, and only plan to bring one of my softgirls with me, at least for a while. I'm going to leave my other girls home, but am worried about them getting dirty. My bedroom gets pretty dusty, and regularly have to clean their undersides since dust begins to build up. How could I go about making sure they don't acquire too much dust while I'm gone without having to worry about them?
I should be able to clean them at least once every couple of months, but still want to have peace of mind while I'm gone. Thanks for any help

Dust is a product of any open environment, you can rectify this by putting them in a space with minimal or no air transfer. This is why display cases are popular instead of open displays for figures, as a good one will never require you to do anything beyond maintaining the outermost layer. A cheap solution is to bag your fumos and make them airtight. You can buy a bunch of large freezer bags for dirt cheap and reuse them whenever.

Here's basically the thing, finding fumos are a crapshoot. Outside of akiba hobby, there's really no guarantee. Try surugaya by the station and the 6 floor one by mandarake as well as shinjuku surugaya. Also try mandarake. Unless someone bought them, kbooks should have a v1 reimu, 1.5 yuyuko and 1.5 alice all for sale, however, for 6480 each, they also had a hatate for that price but I bought her. Lashinbang is a thrift store and they have a plush section, although I found nothing when I went a few days ago. Outside of those stores there really no where to find fumos, sadly.

one small note about meiwako that ive found after turning her and meiling around and comparing them, is that meiwako (left) has much shorter hair than meiling
other than that and the face though, they are functionally identical, with the same scalp, tags, clothing, and body shape and size

i found out that this is because meiwako has a secondary error, alongside her mismatched face
whomever put on her hair, put it on in such a way, that they made the stitches into the scalp WAAAY too high up on the hair itself, making the hair shorter, and the scalp having an excess of hair, that is not present on meilings smooth top

but you could also search 出口毛绒 东方, or 出口毛绒 東方, which is export plush touhou, as that gets you touhou plushies, but the vast majority thats on there are the bootlegs youd find on ebay, the things that arent are just really expensive fumos

The 2 on the left I bought them to someone but the 3 others I got them from a store and had no more information than "cleanable goods". That was a fucking gamble but since I wanted youmu and reimu sukus so much and have no chance to ever get them brand new. For the Sakuya stain I did not see it on the pictures but it's because it's fucking yellow. Will try to remove it with bicarbonate. The marisa however is perfect.

I’ve had my fumos for several years. But now they’re sitting there gathering dust. I don’t feel anything towards them anymore and the softness I used to feel is now dull and bland. I’ve been holed up in my room for too long, and the friendship the fumos provides has worn off and I’m back to feeling worthless and lonely again.
