How do you think this will impact the fandom?

Technically, this is the same as that one time ZUN allowed including Reimu and Marisa on PSP Nendoroid game or letting rhytm games use Touhou characters and music, where the fandom then just went as usual.
But then again, we are talking about Gacha here, the current booming entertainment media that everyone and their mothers are addicted to, and the game itself has bolder presentation it might as well be (Aniplex) anime.
Personally, I think there's something unsettling about this kind of exposure.

This in turn might shape how they view Touhou characters, which come from Aniplex™ interpretation in the game they focus on, instead of more varied interpretations in the community.
For me this is especially worrying for fanartists, but then again it depends on how much flanderized the characters are.

Some of the canon reflects that, but some of the canon also gives the impression she's someone who tries to seem intimidating and mature, when in reality, the only mature one is Sakuya. In MPC if you hold ctrl you can use the arrow keys to move from frame to frame. If you use "webm for retards", you can also move through frame by frame when determining where to clip.

Youtube+ also has a frame by frame feature when holding shift, however Youtube+ doesn't have active support. Only one of my machines can actually use it.

Cannonball is already doing that. If anything, it's a celebration of Touhou Doujin. The official Youmu art for the game is drawn by the world's biggest Youmufag. There's remixes by doujin circles in the game too. They're employing a lot of big doujin artists to help out with this game.

Cannonball has a similar combat system to pokemon master but it’s not a big deal since it’s a board game.
But I don’t think LostWord would be decent either.
They’re throwing money in advertising while the game is still at an early development stage.

Sakuya also plays dumb, is simplistically spiteful, gets overly emotional (but likes to pretend she doesn't; great example is just how pissed off she is near the end of PCB), and she's supremely flippant in many regards, like responding to certain requests of Remilia's or Patchouli, or in how she deals with an invading Marisa (she doesn't, she hides Marisa, as a joke?)

They're both childish, Sakuya is just a lot better at hiding it. Honestly the best way to summarize both of them is "read CoLA and 4 & 5".

Touhou's big advantage was its fuckhuge cast meaning that you had artists drawing a million pieces of the popular girls and the artists who just autistically drew their niche obsessed waifus. There was a 2hu for literally everyone. Most otaku franchises simple didn't have a ton of characters until gacha came around and started having huge casts. Kancolle was just the first to focus on that + the super-nationalist otaku audience to signal boost it.

Remember when Touhou was just a series made by one dude followed by bunch of fans making their own stuff and then groups of creative people also making their own stuff which comprised the whole fandom and derivative work scene, a melting pot of different people/individuals with different orientation, talent, preferences, fetish, etc?
Now it's still a series made by one dude, but now suddenly rich companies start jumping into the sandbox to create media content as well, something ZUN never allowed before.
Handling merchandise and official manga publication should be enough for Touhou, but now companies are also trying to stand at the center of the community and probably influence as well through grandiose project of mainstream entertainment which is gacha.
Maybe I'm making too much of a big deal since we don't see the impact yet, but I just feel like the fandom might going to change, not in terms of quantity but nature, or at least that's what their attempt might lead to.

FGO only displaced the entries that came before it because all the other content of note in recent times is mostly novels, which simply aren't going to attract the same scale of audience as a video game. Nasu is lazy and hasn't released any new games either besides musou spinoffs, which are partly derivative anyways because the need for a large cast leads to borrowing most characters from already existing works.

Touhou doesn't have this problem because ZUN consistently puts out new shit.

I've always thought and highly believed that the music is the greatest factor of what made Touhou popular and stand out in the first place.
Without new ZUN music, people will always look for new 2hus, and ZUN music is something not even the best fangames like FMW can replicate.
There's also the fact that Touhou is a lot more established than any other gacha before its conception. Sure, Fate was popular, but it did not dominate the largest convention on the planet for an entire decade and still have a convention dedicated to it every week or so.

Touhou is a niche that, somehow, got the most dedicated fans on the planet. Gachas get popular, but they're dime a dozen. I fail to foresee a scenario wherein Touhou gets "replaced" by any sort, even if Cannonball or Last Word get popular and they're actually gacha games.
At worst the fandom gets more cancerous, at best Touhou dominates Comiket once again. Either way, it's fairly manageable.

You can just make thread normally you know, even if it's constant.
The thing with "General" is that it unneccessarily give identity to a thread which in turn made people treat it as exclusive, isolated community that eventually cut itself off from the rest off the board, and also incite obsessive "loyalty" to it which lead to unneccesary obligation to keep it alive no matter what.
For example, I'm sure even the inhabitants of pseudo-generals on /a/ don't care or even openly despise /a/'s culture (not that it has any by now) because they all came from other sites and choose to stay in their general to freely act like tumblrites/redditors than suit their attitude to the board's norm. Then there are like half of generals on /vg/ that no longer has discussion yet insisted to be kept alive so they turned into circlejerk central.
