So I posted this last week. A paint job someone did of these Touhou busts. Not the best, but a better job has been done!

Better, probably airbrushed ones.

Might as well keep it new and touhou themed for now.

How much will everything I need to start airbrushing cost?

Excluding a kit and stuff you can get a cheap airbrush kit online for like under 40 dollars.

Also Momiji.

I have those too, they suck.

Woah, that includes whatever air thing I'm supposed to hook up to it and everything? How about paints? Are they relatively cheap?

It's cheap if you're thinking of the better ones that need an air compressor but you can buy more cheap hobby ones that just attach to a small compressed air canister.

>just attach to a small compressed air canister.
Sounds limiting. Like the canisters would eventually overshadow the price of a compressor.

>> No.2191869

>>2191857

Most likely. But with most things like this, investing in a large expensive machine to only do one or two things is silly; meant only for people who will really be doing it on a regular basis.

Yeah it is, but if you want to try out airbrushing but don't want to buy some 400 dollar Iwata compressor kit, it's not bad.

Also, best Touhou figure ever.

Yeah, I think I'll take the $40 kit. It would come with everything needed to get started, correct? I would just need paint?

Yeah, it's not of the highest quality but it should come with a small air can, the air brush, a hose, a jar or two. Searching air brush canister kit or something should yield some Amazon or ebay results!

>>2191890
Thanks.

But I think I'm getting ahead of myself. As I have nothing to paint.

Then again, that's getting even more ahead of myself, because I wouldn't have the necessary skills to paint a fig.

How do you go about finding and purchasing these unpainted models? I never see them anywhere

>> No.2192505

>>2191820
about $90 for a good brush. and you will need a small compressor and a moisture trap (well its not needed, but I definitely suggest it). Canister kits suck badly unless you know how to attach a moisture trap to it, and even then you will wind up running up a good bill on cans pretty fast.

Also, airbrushing is only really good for large areas, for something like eyes you will still want to go by hand. Same for any other details. You can get fast blending results with one as well, but it looks very poor compared to a proper job done with an actual brush by hand (which doesn't take nearly as long as people will make you think it does (if you are doing it right)).

Some are pretty limited, more popular ones show up on ebay (mostly as fake kits, though) or yahoo japan auctions.

I brought some from Mandarake. They have an international online store, so you might find them there if you keep checking.
