no, you have to collect some unspecified number of items to get a bomb piece and/or even more to get a life piece (every 5th bomb piece is also actually a life piece).
and you want to maximize your resource pieces, so you either want to PoC just a lil bit more the required item count threshold (and then you fuck up a lot of attempts without routing), or go straight for life pieces which is usually not really possible due to lack of items. and this game really loves to spawn enemies that fuck with your PoC movement.
compare that to PCB and IN, which have the most intuitive system: you have to collect X score items and this requirement is explicitly shown on your HUD. or SA where you get a piece from every spellcard you did without missing. or hell even older system of extends based on score.

Don't really agree with the things the other guy brought up, though. Only songs I don't like are stage 1, stage 3, and their boss themes: Wakasagihime's is legitimately the worst song ZUN has ever composed. The cast is fine, I actually kind of like them. Seija and Shinmyoumaru are two of my favorite characters in the series. Not one of the stronger casts, but I don't think they're one of the weaker ones either.
