The TLMC torrent is the original TLMC compiled by rwx. It's updated every few years, and has all audio files in the TTA codec.

There's also a TLMC OneDrive compiled by a Chinese guy which contains all the content from the TLMC torrent, plus newer stuff. He updates it more frequently, with new uploads every week, so you'll find newer stuff there, but I've always been uncomfortable with relying on a Microsoft Sharepoint product for filehosting, since the plug can be pulled at any time for any reason. The TLMC OneDrive uses FLAC instead of TTA.

The torrent can't be updated as frequently, because with each TLMC torrent release you'd need a brand new torrent, new seed swarm, etc., whereas you can simply just upload new files to Microsoft Sharepoint whenever you like.

I'm all for decentralizing TLMC and having it exist in multiple places as a failsafe, I just don't feel like OneDrive is a safe option. I might just be unnecessarily paranoid though.

Hello /jp/. I've made a bunch of Youtube videos focused on Touhou music, just seeking some overall feedback, and potential suggestions for improvement.

This is all still just experimental, not sure if I should make more in the long term, but I'm trying out something that (as far as I know) none of the other Touhou music channels have attempted before: I categorise the songs based on which character/stage theme they're based off, and then provide comparisons for each musical genre that exists for that character/stage theme in the form of 30-ish second snippets.

3. Does /jp/ think that, ultimately, people are interested in hearing the same song played in different genres? Or does no-one realistically care about that stuff?

If a video gets deleted or goes private, Youtube really ought to, at the very minimum, give some information like what the title was, rather than just a generic "this video is no longer available because of X" message. That way, people can at least look for alternatives or something.

Just watched the video on Border of Life and I will agree with the others that it's too long. I think cutting the individual clips to somewhere in the 10-20s range would be a good idea. As for the presentation, I liked it. Some nice pictures of Yuyuko in there.

What is your purpose in making these videos? Are they just meant as an exhibit of how diverse touhou music can be or are they meant as a springboard to discover new circles/genres? Yes, its on browser side (js) so if you download the video, the volume is not going to be fucked.
Not easy to bypass the loudness normalization while listening online because there isn't a single browser addon with such an option. The only thing I found was a hacky userscript.

If your video has the "opus (251)" codec the audio quality should be pretty good. 160kbps opus is better than 320kbps mp3.

Youtube's process of giving all the unpopular channels AVC+MP4A and all the million subscriber channels VP9+Opus seems like unadulterated bullshit to me.

The quality difference is very significant, the server-side storage requirements aren't that much different, and the video processing takes a little longer, requiring slightly more resources on Youtube's end. Sure, though keep in mind that it takes me quite a while to compile these, so you might not see it anytime soon unfortunately. I do these when I can find free time, and the three I've uploaded thus far were worked on concurrently, hence the short upload timespan. But yes, the goal is to slowly and eventually cover most themes, including The Enlarged Castle Keep. This is, optimistically, going to cover a timespan of at least a year, so I hope the lengthy wait won't be a disappointment.

In case you're curious, it takes me a handful of days (calendar days, and not a literal 24 hour period) to do song discovery (going through touhouwiki and TLMC, listening to hundreds of songs, identifying potential songs for shortlisting in a spreadsheet, and then narrowing down the shortlist), less than an hour to record gameplay footage, less than half a day to put the audio track together, about a day going though Pixiv, Danbooru and my /jp/ folder looking for suitable eyecatching backgrounds, and then a day putting the imagery together, adding transition effects, text, rendering, quality control, etc. Here, each "day" is anywhere between 4 to 6 hours, whenever I can muster together some spare time in the evening. And yes, I'm probably doing a ton of inefficient things, this is my first attempt at creating some sort of content. (Wrestling with open-source video editing software that crashes every few minutes is always neat.)

For the immediately forseeable future, I'm currently working on Remilia's theme, and following that I plan to start on Meiling's and Suika's.
