Donation to KyoAni is quite safer at "アニメイト Animate" in Japan
than online Sentai Filmworks (www.gofundme.com).

Animate also has small number overseas branches,

Yes, so, check the "ジャンルコード GENRE code" page ASAP.
https://www.comiket.co.jp/info-c/C96/C96genre.html
Google translate does not translate completely, but u can understand outline ez.
10th = Day2(in water blue), there are many works for women,
but there are famous works with many male fans,
however, idk if there are genres or works that u want.

Even if u don't, u won't get bored as u can see a lot of cosplay outside.
Also if u are body strong, u can also donate blood and can also know the blood type :)

Anyway, pls read above two mth files first.

altho idk what will happen yet, personally expect that
there will be a possibility that donations will be made at the C96 venue.

in Animate u can not go to the cash register in short time
bc it is very crowded in summer vacation regardless of the C96 period.
it will not be mixed up at night(after 17:30) bc youngers will go home.

bc they are adopted for the first time fr this time C96.
https://twitter.com/hoshino_koyuki/status/1151111818019950592

basically, wristbands are not sold out.
if u can not buy it by the time u are in the waiting line, just admission will be delayed.
but it has not been announced yet where the sales place on the day will be.

It's a pain to search though, obviously. Has anyone uploaded the DVD catalog anywhere? Alternatively, how good is the web catalog (paid or free)? I've found it much easier in past years to use a printed circle list instead of my phone.

The guide for WF 1st timers: (repost fr previous thread as mht.file in OP)

WF???
Sales event of figures (such as garage kit), also event stage, cosplay can be seen.
- venue: Makuhari Messe (幕張メッセ, not Tokyo Big Sight)
- period: only one day (next SUNDAY)
paid event. "公式ガイドブック Official Guide Book" is an admission ticket (on the day, advance sale)
(there is also a priority admission ticket "Direct Pass", but it has already been sold out.)

There are no guide for foreign languages such as English on the official site,
but there are no unusual special rules or manners, no worry.
Not so many visitors like コミケ, but about 50,000 visitors total usual.

There are comlete products in the 企業ブース Corporate booths mainly,
yet 一般ディーラー Private dealers are for experts, except for smaller items,
many original products are also exhibited at 一般ディーラー, such as animals.

Unlike Comiket, there are many expensive products, but a lot of cheaper ones.
It is the same as Comiket that the limited edition is sold out immediately,
but it is an unbearable space for people who like this world.

Although someone illegally copied the catalog data would be uploaded someday,

Catalogs are also a valuable their income, so don't look for illegal copyies info.

Someone usually always uploads it, it's better to have it because you can print your personal maps and learn the layout, even more than ever now that we have new halls.
The free web catalog is trash and has a limit on how many pages you can browse. I've heard the paid one is good by some, but I prefer to have the actual map instead of depending on batteries.
If you worry about being labeled a pirate you can buy the catalog yourself after the event, they're usually sold at a bargain price to get rid of them.
Also what the other anon said, many circles disclose what they're selling very late, some even the day before, so don't be surprised if you see yourself finishing your map while sitting in the line.
My recommendation is to keep in mind which circles/artists haven't announced their stuff, I forgot but what it was but most of them use a hashtag when announcing it.

I do envy the guys who leave near Minato-ku, since they can join the lines much earlier, compared to my place.

idk if u can do this, but tell u some tips.

the railways going to the venue are "Rinkai line(-sen)" and "Yurikamome",
and "Osaki" and "Shimbashi" are starting points stn as mid tokyo side, already u know.
http://www.bigsight.jp/english/hotel/transportation/

if u take "JR Yamonote line" or "JR KeihinTohoku line" is operating earlier,
so u will be in time for the first train leaving both railways.

therefore, even if it is not fr Minato-ku(ward),
u can arrive early enough as "morning waiting group", BUT have to wait longer until open.

So u can be a member of morning waiting group without having to take a taxi fr far distance.
A lot of internet-cafe(ネットカフェ) near both JR line stns around, Google Maps knows.

seems u are not 1st timer, but if udk how to use IC card(Suica, PASMO...),
watch videos at above post lower part. >>21765496

First time comiket, long time doujin reader here.
I am mostly interested in day 3 and 4 but will visit on day 1 to scout the area and on day 2 to see what it takes to get in line on time. I am staying near ayase station however so I don't really know what the best way of transfer is/how early I can or should leave.

>> No.21810835

>>21810037
If you want to be stupidly early to Tokyo Big Sight from Ayase, you'd probably have to go like:
- Ride the train from Ayase Station (Chiyoda Line) to Hibiya Station (Chiyoda Line).
- Walk from Hibiya Station (Chiyoda Line) to Yurakucho Station (Yurakucho Line).
- Ride the train from Yurakucho Station (Yurakucho Line) to Toyosu Station (Yurakucho Line).
- Walk a bit from Toyosu Station (Yurakucho Line) to Toyosu Station (Yurikamome).
- Ride the Yurikamome from there up to Tokyo Big Sight Station (Yurikamome).

The Yurikamome is the unmanned monorail that runs in Daiba, BTW.

If you wanted to start REALLY early (as in, the stations just opened) and start from Ayase Station at 5 AM, you'd arrive in Big Sight in around slightly after 6 AM. Assuming you didn't get lost or anything.

- Pack an umbrella. Most likely a foldable type, and of course, not transparent.
- Pack drinks, but not too much, unless you have someone else to watch your queue position.
- Might be optional, but bring a shitton of towels (various sizes).
- Lastly, it might be a good idea to bring a carrying case for your bought merchandise. You wouldn't want to go all the way to Comiket to buy doujins, just to get them crushed from the waves of sweaty people in the venue.

serious earthquakes have a very low probability of actually occurring,
however, this one basic tip that has not been written yet is more important.

change ur 10,000Y notes into 1,000Y notes and 500Y coins beforehand and be sure to have some 100Y coins ready.
remember that Comiket is CASH based, so most circles can not be accept ur credit card.

this photo guy's war fund was abt 36,500Y total, 1000Y(x30), 500Y(x10), 100Y(x15),
seems he wanted affordable ones such as thin books mainly.
but if payment of more than 10,000Y is certain at one circle or corporate booth,
u should prepare one or some 10,000Y and 5,000Y notes.
ur war fund is different depending on what the fan of the work is, anyway.

And, anon who comes fr without a wallet country as usual or ur custom, buy a wallet in advance.
if u don't care about wallet degin or color, no problem 100 YEN shop's one,
but long one that can not be folded is easy to be targeted by pickpockets.

although it is possible at coin exchange machine in the video arcades,
but it's no wonder that fake money are used by foreigners like him >>21822236
however, video arcades machine is the most convenient bc no "fee" of exchange.

basic Japanese (日本語 Nihongo) :
# video arcade : ゲームセンター game center, but calling ゲーセン GaCen usual.
# coin exchange machine : 両替機 ryigae-ki
so, no one use such strange japanese "kanekuzushi", pls forget it right now.
金崩し kanekuzushi is wrong,
yet, (お)金を崩す。 (o)kane wo kuzusu. = 両替する。ryogae suru. is correct.
okane is formal style, without first "o" style is frank.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hinR9oYue2U

many stores that do not accept money exchange according to their own rules,
but it is worth trying, in Japanese 500Y coin(s) is called "gohyaku-(Y)en dama" usual,
in formal japanese is "gohyaku-(Y)en kouka" tho.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZYv8643alE
dama(玉 tama) means gem, including real coins, not used for notes.
kouka(硬貨) means coin as money, notes are お札 osatsu, "--- Yen satsu" usual.

The only normal thing that you should hope for is the artist putting it online as you said. Other than that you can try to look at second hand online stores such as Mandarake or Lashinbang right after Comiket.
If you're really desperate, you can look on Yahoo auctions for the item you want on the day it was sold or one day after. It's going to cost at least twice as much though. Often there are people who buy multiple pieces of popular circles on Comiket just to sell them on overpriced online. These people also cause actual fans to miss out on buying what they wanted due to it being sold out earlier. So keep in mind this is overly expensive and supports jackasses.

So I finally arrived back in Tokyo and had time to start flipping through the catalog. Is there any organization to this? I heard that there is some method to each day (fujos day 1 etc) but beyond that? I always liked the super technical stuff people came out with ( guns mecha planes etc) but I don't know many circles. However I hear those things are sometimes grouped geographically? If so is there an easy way to figure this out?

>> No.21830423

>>21830385
The genres were always color-coded on the maps on the webcatalog so I assumed the catalog book would be similar.
For example I remember on Day 2 half of one of the east halls was all shaded blue for Type Moon and the other half white for idolm@ster.
But yes they are usually grouped geographically.

I thought the Cosplay areas were changing. But according to this it's the same 3 major sites as usual; on the roof, next to the main entrance in front of the tv, and the area around the fountain with a few food trucks and next to the sidewalk.

Are there not new or alternative areas for cosplay?

I recall that pretty much all of those areas are exposed and would be rained out.

A literal shitload of doujins are never scanned if they're not popular. But at this point it's tradition and keeping this doujin aura alive. If they started selling them digital it would kill this feeling of small, local market with people selling stuff they genuinly love making and would change into simply making money.
Or at least that's my nostalgic take on it. I love searching for shit after Comiket, it gives me a lot of fun even if most of my favorite artists are never scanned.

>> No.21839522

>>21839494
Then why wont they release in digital ffs. So much shit is lost forever because its not reprinted, its even worse than no scans, I cant even buy the paper even if I wanted to. This is a retarded tradition, how can this pointless waste of time in company of stinky people just to get what you want is considered fun? It is about money anyway, artists draw trendy shit only because its what brings them cash. It may be fun for you but I just wont to collect all the good shit in one form or the other, I dont care for the event in the slightest. I trough that art is what its all about.

The vast majority of doujin artists (the ones who aren't world-famous and don't have their books in every Melon and Tora nationwide) only make enough to cover the cost of printing their books, if even that. Many come out behind. It's for fun.

I failed the most stereotypical gaijin test:
I went halfway down the circle line before realizing it would be fucking retarded to get close to Big Sight this early. I saw the circle sign, but that was simultaneously the direction everyone was heading in, and I couldn't find a 参加者 or 最後尾 sign from the station

On the way back I had to search for the general hall entry sign, which only indicated halls. It wasn't even directly facing the crowd, so I don't feel bad about missing it.

15 minutes lost, but I won't make that mistake again.

no penalty if leaving the line.
just have to tell the neighbors abt want to go to toilet.
many Japanese otakus come alone, so they go to there in same way.

if wdl to say in Japanese, use below,
Sumimasen, Toire(toilet) ni ikitai no desuga, yoroshii desuka?

if can not say well, just show this sentence.
すみません、トイレに行きたいのですが、宜しいですか?

BUT after 9:30 no recommend, bc also toilet waiting line long, be cafeful.
if someone back or staff coming, ask conditions(waiting time), a lot of toilets but not enough.

From the web videos I've seen earlier, it seems like the attendees from the first train off Tokyo Big Sight Station were stopped by staff members.
Right after they got out of the station.
But at least they were led to the Big Sight grounds.

Slowly. Like lambs to a slau- no wait.

Anyway, I guess it's one of their newly implemented anti-rush tactics.

>> No.21846236

Point to the 見本/sample book.
Say "mihon wo mite mo ii desu ka?".

If they say "ii yo" or "doozo" or just nod, then go ahead and leaf through the book.
If you don't like it, just smile, put the book back and say thanks. No need to feel obliged to buy the book.

And even if there's a sample, at least keep your hands dry from sweat.
