That is exactly what it still is, but instead of being a small distraction to hold us over until Tsukihime R or Mahoyo 2, it instead became the "main project" and a huge cancer on TM as a whole, while still clearly being lower effort than any of their past works.

I suck at endings but you could go many ways, tapping on theme like Types coming down, Aoko's actions oddly clashing with her nature of being true to herself and embodying the aspect "future" or whatever. You could even have the Counter Force be a thing since she is basically hunted by it and was accused of being the reason the world will end by several characters. But it calls on many of the works, link them, and make use of ideas that were built.
Why Aoko as the main role? Because she appears in the oldest work timeline wise and I always had this feel of the reccuring character that pops up or is mentioned occasionally only to be revealed to be something far bigger in the grand scheme of thing.

There is many shit left vague or unexplained you can bascially come up with whatever the fuck you want and it'd make sense. Just not Attila being a stripper Alien or I'M AN HEROIC SPIRIT BUT MORE STRONG, PLS BUY CRYSTALS!!!!.
I'm divised on Beast, the concept could be good but the current execution makes want to puke. And it really feels like TYPES 2.0 for newfags.

I've been reading the symphogear mobage for 2 years, and I actually enjoy myself everytime they add new story content. Because everything is very heavily focused on chracters and their interactions. FGO has so many fucking characters that It's impossible to give a shit about even 40% of them. Lancer Arthuria and her alter barely even have a established personality.

FGO honestly could have turned out great if they hadn't made Guda a self-insert, and didn't instantly start flooding the game with new servants for gacha bucks. I can't even remember how many servants were in the game at launch, but if they had spent the first 4 singularites ACTUALLY focusing on them instead of shilling new ones maybe everything before camelot wouldn't be utter trash.

It doesn't help that every single event has to be full of bad comedy, so even if a character get's the spotlight there, almost ALL of it is wasted on irrelevant shit. take the event that added Jeanne alter as a playable unit for example, Instead of a serious story exploring her regrets and mental state It's about her making fake copies of characters because "Shota's are cute!" "I want to be a popular school girl!" and she doesn't even show up until the very end of the event, where the writers pull their usual mishmash of lore terms to justify why she's even alive again instead of something that makes sense.

Fate was never about fighting for grails or about servants, this is what GO gets wrong. What made F/SN good were the themes about morality and self sacrifice vs selfishness. The best characters in F/SN are Shirou, Kotomine, Kiritsugu and Archer for this reason.

This is also why F/Z is the only good direct spin off of F/SN, because it understood what made F/SN good and built upon it. The 3 main focal points of F/SN are kiritsugu's morality (and how it contrasts with Shirou's), Kotomine awakening to his true nature (which finally made Gil an interesting character instead of the psychopathic Saber orbiter he was in F/SN), and Saber's idea of kingship vs Rider and Gilgamesh's. Every other spinoff of Fate has always made the critical error of focusing on the idea of servants, and they've had some pretty cool ones like Vlad and Karna, but they all lack the thematic linchpin that actual makes the story worth reading.

The other servants and masters are perfectly fine (or at least tolerable) characters in their own right, but the story is not about them, nor should it be. Same thing with Zero.

Apocrypha tried to have a theme of salvation and how it is achieved, but neither Shirou Kotomine nor Sieg were good enough characters to make it work. And the side characters were either forgettable (every master save Sisigou), or wasted potential mostly relegated to pointless fights.

I decided not to get it when it announced that it would in fact be a bundle. They didn't even give her the pink apron, and she got less faceplates than Shinji. Hopefully they decide to release a better solo figma in the future.

You know, ten or years ago I would have been excited about Tsukihime R coming out. Now that it's closer to actually becoming a reality I can't shake this looming fear and unbearable anxiety.
I'm scared of Tsukihime R finally coming out. After all that's happened I can't trust in Nasu anymore. No matter how much I want to be hopeful that it could be good, my pessimism just wins out. At this point I genuinely think Tsukihime R will be unrecognizable from the original, barely the same plot and characters. Even if they don't try to shove in FGOshit (which I'm not so convinced they won't), even if it IS a VN (which I'm not so convinced it will be) I'm scared whatever comes out will be barely recognizable as Tsukihime at all. And when the inevitable anime comes out, THAT will be seen as the definitive tsukihime by secondaries who never read the VN. I've been told my pessimism is misplaced, but I find it possible to be excited about Tsukihikme R anymore.

The problem is Shiki's not really that interesting normally, at least when compared to Ryougi Shiki or Shirou. I'd say even Hakuno's a little more interesting than him, of only because Hakuno's inner monologue has a little more flavor. Shiki's just too neutral most of the time, unless he's fighting vampires or whatever. I blame this on Nasu being a little new to the whole VN thing at the time. He'd only ever written normal novels up to then, and I don't think he's written many first-person narratives either.

Shiki's narration improves substantially in Kagetsu Tohya, but he still has this bizarre tendency to go on tangents, which is kind of a mixed back. There's this one memorable part in Kagetsu Tohya where he monologues about a time during his childhood when he snuck out of his house to see the circus. It was memorable and a little interesting, but it also has fuck-all to do with anything. It wasn't until Melty Blood when his narration and dialogue starts to get a little snappier, but this comes at a cost. The Shiki of Melty Blood is really only superficially like the Shiki of Tsukihime. And whenever he gets serious, he starts talking more like Ryougi Shiki.

That episode 0 was surprisingly good, but then again it covered the actualy mildly interesting part of FGO (backstory), the first scene in Babylonia with just Mashu and Roman, and the cool flashbacks of the singularities (especially Camelot). Barely anything with the MC, I'm sure the protagonist and the pseudo-Servants will drag this anime down the shitter like they did with the actual chapter in the game, but at least we got a decent backstory episode.

It's weird that if someone watched this one episode in isolation, they would never guess how utterly garbage the game it comes from is.

It was good because the episode emotional core was focused on Roman and Mash, and everything else was embellishment their journeys. The lore stuff is also interesting, but that alone wouldn't be enough if Nasu hadn't sold these two. Gudao was harmless because he was a secondary character who helped along in the end, and the non Chaldea Servants were just providing lessons (which Servants usually did in FSN).

That scene that he hesitates and smiles marveled at the fireworks only for him to be overwhelmed by guilt and the nightmare he had, reminding he doesn't have time and he's busy was such old Nasu, so heavy and tragic. I also think Mash has a lot of spark, but she can only showcase this when she's not the Heroine. The ripple journey was very very nice touch, as her conclusion, and Roman's reaction to it. I was reading a CN xianxia webnovel the other day, and was thinking about the similarities between Cultivators spending their entire life to gain Immortality/Breakthrough to the Immortal World, and Mages reaching the Root.

It was noted by someone that most cultivators don't have children until they're several hundreds of years old. If they've had children, it essentially means they've given up on ascending to immortality since they're deciding to raise the next generation instead.
