Pure Furies

I'm a huge fan of ZUN's relatively early compositions, particularly the melancholy, dreamlike and ambient ones. While they're not exactly all from the games a few examples that come to my mind are Eternal Shrine Maiden, Border Between Dream and Reality, Far Side of the Moon and Ghostly Eyes. It's a shame he dropped that style of composition so early on, it totally nailed the atmosphere of the settings he was trying to present.

Yeah, ZUN's early music CDs are really nice. I still like Touhou, but I think it peaked around PCB.
New Touhou just feels different, all the colors are bright and saturated, and the music is harsher and more energetic. Although, the WBWC demo seemed to have some of the mystery and melancholy in it's composition that's been missing for a while.
