Not him but they are called "Touhou Mother" and "Return of Touhou Mother".
Although to be frank, they aren't very good and fail pretty hard at being a good fangame of either Mother or Touhou. The humor isn't very good either and often relies on making references to other vidya franchises or 2ch memes.
If you're still interested then try the first one at least, the second game was clearly rushed, has atrocious pacing, gameplay and is a bug ridden mess.

Gensou Shoujo Taisen/Fantasy Maiden Wars is unarguably a god-tier Touhou fangame.

Every 2hu has at least one theme or up to five of them, lots of playable characters, great gameplay, a decent plot for a 2hu fangame, great graphics, and 100+ hours of content.

Puppet Dance Performance and Labyrinth of Touhou 2 are great, as well.

I doubt that, the entire buildup from the first game to the last is written around the OC, not just being a baku.
Even if Sanbondo tries hard to stick as close to canon as possible (especially compared to other fangame circles) I doubt they'd retcon their OC just because of Doremy. And if they did, they'd also have to retcon sheephu and heaviliy alter most if not all of the final arc of the final game.

It requires memorization of where enemies spawn, learning of the patterns and so forth. Depending on the game, it can lean heavily on requiring a lot of repetition to learn the levels as opposed to games where you don't have to do such a thing. 1CC on normal is not too bad for this, but I don't think of normal as 'playing' the game. That sounds more like getting through it to say you beat it on normal. People who 'play' the game go as far as lunatic and all that. That's a lot of doing the same thing over and over. Much like speedrunners.

>> No.21781331

Any skill takes constant repetition to get good at. The difference between danmaku and speedrunning is that speedrunning tends to involve no applicable skill at all.
If you're good enough to 1CC SA, you can probably blind 1CC any other game on normal without practice, or most other games in the genre. If you spend months speedrunning one game, all you've developed is a list of very specific exploits that don't apply in any other context.
Some of the side games are much closer to speedrunning, since there's a lot of straight up gimmicks and specific strategies involved there.

No one popped out of the womb good at shooters, but most people have built up the physical skill set to play them over the years. Just the same, no one is born good at shmups. Shumps require no more autism to be competent at them than any other genre does. They're just a genre with a skill set that is unique to it so nothing you've learned from other games is applicable and you have to start from square one like a 5 year old who can't beat the first level of super mario bros.

>If you're good enough to 1CC SA, you can probably blind 1CC any other game on normal without practice
I would disagree. They would still need to practice a considerable amount. I vividly remember when I was good enough to 1CC SA. I could just barely 1CC some of the easier ones after a couple tries. The harder ones like UFO would destroy me though, often killing me by stage 3. I had no practice with this one. If they could 1CC it on Hard though, sure, they would probably be a lot better.
>Some of the side games are much closer to speedrunning, since there's a lot of straight up gimmicks and specific strategies involved there.
This is specifically the portion I'm getting at, but I think there is much more gimmick in the mainline than you are saying.
IN has a notorious amount of gimmick to it for instance. EoSD has a big RNG factor in the Remilia fight. And some require mastery of the gimmick specific to that game to do properly.

I would like to clarify that I'm not saying it takes the same amount of time as speedrunning. But it does use the same principle of 'grinding' to even win proper. That's how the genre is unfortunately. Not all games are like this, mind you, since they draw on knowledge or logic that someone would naturally have despite never picking up one of the games.

>> No.21782208

>>21782159
I'd also like to clarify I'm not trying to diss shmups. And I will agree that a lot of it has to do with the average person likely having a large degree less exposure to the genre that makes it hard to get into.

As much as I loathe to make such a tired connection, when Demons' Souls came out it was toted as very difficult. Dark Souls came out and was said to be much harder. People who played DeS disagreed, saying DeS was much harder. It was, in fact, stupidly easy compared to DS. So things like what >>21781920 said are certainly true. But in terms of gameplay, shmups are one of those games that rely on a bit more game-specific knowledge than some genres.

I don't have a download of it, but I figured you should put the proper name at least.

Some additions I would add:
-Sengoku Gensokyo, it's pretty old but very cool. Has great music. Campaign takes a considerable amount of time to beat, and has an NG+ boss if you beat it a second time around.
-Aya Ace Attorney Game: I forgot the proper name of it, but it was pretty fun. Not too long.

Of the few mentioned here:

1) Takkoman -Kouzatsu World-
Play very much like MMX/MMZ (more the latter). The ah, "characters" aren't your regular Gensokyo citizen. It's better if you read the story up yourself; it's in the wiki. Maybe it's just me but the difficulty can be crazy.

2) Satori Komeiji's Mental Education
A puzzle game where you as Satori has to guide Koishi (and later Orin and Okuu) by interacting with various signs and objects. There's 120 stages so depending on how good you are it can take a while.

3) Gensokyo no Nazo
It's basically an open-world platformer, and when I say open I mean there's about 200+ maps that's connected from one to the other, and some need to be opened from one side. If you get a game over any unlocked door will stay like that and you'll keep any upgrades, so only your score (and maybe your sanity cause screw dying in the middle of nowhere) will suffer. Best part about this game is you can recruit every boss, basically granting you extra lives on top of new abilities.

Uh. Hard to say. The last general about it that I recall seeing was a couple months ago. There were actually two separate mods. Touhou Origins and Touhou Tinder. Origins' work was completed and the person who was working on it moved over to Tinder to continue building off that one. I'm unsure just how far the progress got, but it was completely functioning and all that good stuff. I'm just unsure if all of the planned features were completed. Honestly, I'd appreciate if someone could link the latest builds that were posted.

In EDF, I can generally prevail even against hordes of enemies that would all kill me in one hit through overwhelming firepower. Fairies, though, are extremely numerous, very fast, small targets, and fliers. Ultimately, I couldn't figure out any way to keep them at bay without taking hits, and those hits hurt like hell on the highest difficulty.

They're similar to the small UFO enemies in some of the EDF entries, but the small UFOs are much larger targets, are less tenacious, appear in far fewer missions (and when they appear in large numbers they typically lack ground support), and it's often possible to take cover against their attacks. As a result, I find them much more manageable, and I can defeat a ton of them even if I can only absorb a few laser bursts. Getting the right weapons for the job takes a little grinding, but not nearly as much as getting enough armor pickups to actually tank hits.

I think I 1CC'd IN a day or two after that. With my confidence bolstered, I returned to SA, and once again failed to get past Orin.

It's hard to say whether I breezed through EoSD and IN so easily because of all the time I'd spent playing SA, though, or if that's just due to the way my skills are skewed. Based on what people have said in the gameplay threads, I seem to suffer greatly against opponents that require learning patterns, while I find ones focused on RNG stuff and micro-dodging extremely easy.

Depends on what you mean by "finished." If you just defeated Kokoro, then that's pretty much the end of the main storyline (barring a couple DLC scenarios that might be included with Reloaded by default, I forget what all got bundled in there,) but there are still a ton of dungeons to clear. If you've actually cleared all of the Bunnyland dungeons, then there are still some more "grindin' forever"-themed dungeons that can be accessed through Rinnosuke at the Ancient City, and Kasen at the shrine.

Apparently you can make her harder by beating bonus bosses mima has a battle sprite in the decompiled files I looked through of the jap version but yeah giant hecatia with her main body, head, and two celestial bodies is the last phase of the final boss.

If you want to cheese it, have yukari use her gap stuff and have her shove items into other party members.
I personally used Reimu, Reisen, and Tenshi. Tenshi buffed everyone and used items. Reimu healed people and spammed her AoE special. Reisen healed people and spammed her AoE special. It takes a while to get her down, and I killed the moon/earth/hell a fuckload of times before she went down. She may seem bad, but the timing for defending against her attacks is actually pretty easy.
If you desperately need better equipment, give Reimu her Yin Yang orb and pay kosaga to upgrade its attack. Grab the magic bean from the Akis, get the fertilizer by a boss in the sunflower garden who is harassing Yuuka then going to the magical science place in the dream world, and then talk to Yuuka in front of the SDM to get access to the games Lazy Shell Equivalent.
Also, buy a bunch of revive potions from Tenshi and make sure that you have accessories that protect from debuffs equipped.

Side note, found out about this just now:

It's not really as bad as it first appears, you just need a solid understanding of how to make the most of the crafting/fusion mechanics. I thought those dungeons seemed like unfair RNG bullshit at first, but I can consistently clear almost all of them without save scumming now.

>>21808501
Genso Wanderer has a ton of different dungeons, and those dungeons follow different rules. Some of them do absolutely require the player to bring along upgraded equipment. There are others that can be cleared without it, though, and many that require the player to start off "naked" (which are the ones I generally enjoy the most.) Similarly, some dungeons ban crafting and partners, some start you off with all item types unidentified, etc. There's a good amount of variety after you get through the first two storyline dungeons.

If you're looking for a strictly western-style roguelike experience then I wouldn't recommend the game, but if you're open to at least some "roguelite" elements then I think it's worth trying out. I generally prefer the western roguelike formula, but I ended up being pretty fond of the item upgrade mechanics in Genso Wanderer. There's a lot more to it than just stacking pluses on a weapon.

I wouldn't say she's gay, she's more of "muh power of friendship" the character. Since the story and dialogue started getting written almost a decade ago by now. I can kinda see why they'd go for Nitori's pre-jew characterization.

I played the old and actually good version of GoS (with a fanpatch doubling material droprate, as that was originally beyond retarded), and mostly didn't use Alice either (she was in my B party), but it did work quite alright. Just gotta build good parties. Death-Axe Aya + Sanae carry a lot on their own so Alice isn't REALLY needed most of the time. I don't think the game ever made me use her when I didn't have her in my party anyway.

Sanae on the other hand. Playing the game without her is usually a very bad idea...

>wasn't Sakuya the one who told Meiling to come with her
That's the thing, Sakuya probably would not do that. They've all got their posts, and duties outside of the mansion are pretty much Sakuya exclusive. It's not a big deal, but Sakuya's dedication to Remilia and her job responsibilities is absurd. She'll basically do everything herself, no assistance. Only time she asked Meiling to do something was to try finding Lily in the gardens (since the gardens are Meiling's responsibility)

And I would say there was yuri-teasing. I know that stuff when I see it. She's definitely more blatantly friendly than she should be, too. While sure, "money-grubbing" was something we were informed of later, she was always a two-faced cunt. Nitori in MoF was self-interested and opportunistic, people just assumed her saying she's a friend of humanity was honest even though honestly, she attacks you several times.

Yes anon. Well technically no, the opening video is still all in japanese. But it's the only thing left untranslated. Also btw finding sources of easy grinding just after you begin the postgame is retarded hard

Was the newest game by the people who made Gensou Wanderer confirmed to also have an english release on Switch eventually? I saw a trailer for the japanese version some time ago in the news.

Well I am working on it actually using unity auto translate plugin as a base. but I probably won’t do the events other than fixing the truly unreadable ones, mostly focused on UI and making it playable

The only real issue here is not only am I not good with dialogue but I can’t really translate dialogue as well as I can the UI so you’ll have to be stuck with the auto translate(which shockingly is handling this game better than the other ones from this circle) but anyone who can will easily be able to fix whatever is there by opening up the txt file and fixing whatever lines they want fixing

Also for a bonus I decided to also just take from the circle’s newer game files for portraits of characters too new for this one since I prefer this game’s gameplay, so I added custom characters for people all the way to four seasons. They don’t have the sprites since you can’t give custom characters those
