Katanagatari and Thunderbolt Fantasy were damn good shows that are also interesting from a Japanese learning perspective
as for dumb shows I just had a wonderful time watching more recently, Overlord and Tenslime

Pass a few novels with lots of kanji through the text analysis tool. Make anki cards for all of the words. Rep 'em all till you feel like you've got no problem remembering the vast majority of those words.

I started up Zero no Tsukaima just to see how it is, and holy shit this is easy reading. If you're a shitter, try it out. Furigana all over the place, easy as fuck language, it feels like it was written for 8 year olds.

you wont though. not if you stay more or less consistent. the lookups will decrease as you learn more. try making a few sentence cards a day from what you're reading (even just 3 to 5 cards a day) for a week or so, with any new vocab and grammar in them explained on the back, and see if that helps. when i was at that stage, picking a few sentences around n+2 to break down and rep a few times with SRS helped a lot with my comfort in processing sentences. quickly i got to the point where longer sentences were easier to tackle.

The problem is that this "私がもらう" throws me in confusion, I feel the subject receiving the object is 妹が. I feel the 私が is wrong, makes me think "I will receive it". I think the sentence is perfect removing the 私が. What am I missing? What does that 私が means? . For more clarity, this is the entire text:
