Maybe he's grown tired of it and has no interest in coming up with a finale? A sad scenario, but it's the most plausible to me. It's not like he didn't have the time.

Not only that, but what really intrigued me was the second depiction shown in the Crayon March opening, way back in Episode 6.
The first one foreshadows what the Moonlight Descent is going to be, as shown in Episode 19 Part 7/9. And it's quite literal.
The second one is the same scene as the first one, except the blue third eyes don't open and the sclera of the eye of the Earth is now red. It could have been an interesting turn of events.
However, what I DON'T want to see is everyone brought back to life without any consequence. I know the way is literally there (killing Koakuma), but if you want such a happy ending, somebody should pay the price and they can't be a villain. If there are no downsides whatsoever, it just feels cheap.
