Back in 2005, the Hello!Project as a whole was facing a gigantic crisis. It's popularity kept decreasing day after day at an alarming rate and members cowardly "graduated" so to bail themselves out.
Cut to Tsunku, the brain behind H!P, hanging his head and crying bitter tears. It was high time to find someone that would turn the situation for the better, in other words they sorely needed a Miracle that would outshine the rest of the group, so a grand audition for the 7th generation's new star. Some 20,000 wannabe idols applied to it and just Koharu managed to make it.
The rest is history. Koharu eventually managed to assert herself and drive home to everyone her talent, after a slight initial mistrust on the wotas' part. It's quite clear that anyone still vocally questioning her qualities to this day is just a part of that small group whom hasn't yet accepted that she lived up to the expectancies.
At nearly 17 years of age, Kusumi Koharu is clearly one of the brightest and most talented star of the H!P firmament.

An educated guess can be that she'll follow in Matsuura-sama's footsteps and graduate on her own will from Morning Musume once it'll dawn on her that it's too much cramped a group to give her talent full play. I'm still of the opinion that her place is to purse a solo career on her own.

I believe she signed a contract and she's paid on the monthly basis. The money is entrusted to Koharu's parents. Also, there is really no IRA accounts or any type of pension, so all of her investment decisions are being made by her parents.

To put it simply, it's a glorified word for when an idol leaves her group permanently, whether honorably or not. Graduations are usually accompanied with a celebration of sorts, but it's mostly a case by case basis and sometimes it's just used as a sweetened term for said idol getting the pink slip (i.e. Kago Ai was reported as "graduated" even though she was caught dead to rights and fired outright).

You know, I'm not really fond of Koharu. Not that I'm going to bash her or anything, because I guess she's good for what she is.. I just don't care for her much. Something about her voice doesn't work for me.

Just for the sake of keeping the ball rolling, what's in your opinion the best of Koharu's solo songs?

Koha-chan and someone else related. I think it's either Michishige Sayumi or Mano Erina... I'm sorry, but honestly I'm always in a jam when it comes to guess the names of the other Musume. They're so unimportant when next to Koharu.
