Can someone help me find an artist? It was an older musician, he had an angry/folksy sound that really reminded me of Vysotsky (if anyone knows Russian music).

Not gonna lie, it took me a good minute to figure out which song you were talking about. I didn't realize they took the scientific name for the translation of べにくらげ. I really like "Sculpture - Kinoko Teioku", from those you listed it's my favourite for sure.

Yeah, of course. That's also why I got into it. Hearing stuff like "ハイヤ　イヤサッサ" sparked my curiosity. You've got two different styles of music to consider though, the slower more melancholic kind from Okinawa, and the rest from surrounding islands in the Ryukyu chain. No worries a tall. I would say most of the traditional stuff I mentioned is just vocals over sanshin, which is my preferred thing. If you're looking specifically for the callouts in the style of Eisa odori, I would say the ones to focus on would be Rimi Natsukawa and hard to find rock bands like Parsha Club.

Yeah, that was what I was looking for but I'm really enjoying the regular stuff too. The style of vocals is intriguing on its own. I was looking for this kind of stuff for a long time, but all I knew is that it was a style of Japanese music. I only recently realized that it comes mostly from Okinawa and the southern islands. All of my interest in it started with Anna Sato, who has done both traditional shima uta and also fusion pop/jazz as a solo musician and as a part of Kurofune. Her voice is very strong still, as she is only about 40 years old. I think some of the remaining legends like Ikue Asazaki are going soon, being in their 90s.

I'm sure the sound engineer has a lot of input during recording, but I think it's mostly Noko and mono. Noko's a bit of an auteur, he wants to do everything himself and does know a lot about the topic, but mono is fairly knowledgeable about these things as well (he has his own soundcloud with some nice tracks).

They did a stream a few months ago where he and mono showed off his recording room, how he generally makes a demo from start to finish. It's a few hours long but pretty interesting.

I don't remember if they said it in that stream as well, but that song (おやすみ) was one of their candidates for the Attack on Titan Season 2 Ending song, apparently, so I guess they recreated it there as an example.

Also,
Chibagin (bassist) announced in the stream he's dropping out of the band, he got married last year and they're expecting a child and the band doesn't make enough money to support his family. The band isn't planning on disbanding or stop activities, and they've still got an album coming this year, but if they really can't find a replacement they probably will.

It's not really a "theme" some reason I love when people wax poetically about contrails (飛行機雲) probably because there's not really any sense of those being beautiful or meaningful in our culture so it feels very unique. I love her but the new album isn't great, just like her last album it's full of old songs. There's only 2 brand new songs on it really. But at least the old songs on it are remastered or even re-arranged slightly, I'd have to compare it to the singles.

I'd like her next album to have more new songs and be more cohesive, she tried to link the old singles together like she had planned the album to have this theme but it seems she only decided on it last minute.

Rumours are Jihen will reform for the olympics (she's the director of the opening ceremony) I'd rather have a new album by them than another solo album.

I like her first two albums, then Karuki Zamen came and blew my mind. Fantastic art-pop album… and right after that she formed Toukyou Jihen. First two album were very good, popy fun with definitive rock edge. But with further album it all became sort of boring. Then she came back to her solo career and honestly… I'm not sure what to think. She still can write a solid song every now and then (Saihate no mitai for example and her two collaborations with Hayashibara Megumi were pretty solid) but as an solo artist she's just really weird. I love Oomori. Next to YUKI, Togawa Jun and Haru Nemuri she's definitely one of my favourite pop artists BUT with recent comeback of Gotou Mariko I can't truly claim Seiko is the best. That spot is entirely dedicated to Mariko-chan… at least in my heart. Her comeback EP (2018 December release) was absolutely insane - intense like a kick to guts, I could feel my heart being torn out and my brain getting kicked by the sheer power of that new songs.

It's by a male band (or a very masculine female voice, can't be sure), around 150-160bpm. Similar to an asian kongfu style, but the singer has a slightly different voice. The voice high, not low.
The genre is jrock I suppose. Definitely not pop.

This is scuffed as fuck but it's all the info that I have. It's a relatively popular song, I just spend an hour looking for it with these clues and still can't find it.

Anyone know what the fuck the name of the show is? Is it just a common thing in Japanese culture? Family Gekijou shows old ass shows btw so that's why I think it was a reference.

If you find this stuff interesting I recommend you to listen to 6th (aka Viral Program) and Yuuhei Morita (aka Remain Silent) tracks, their stuff is amazing (especially Morita's, his tracks are extremely deep and somewhat emotional too, at least to me).
