The #1 rule when discussing Touhou translations was always to claim that they are all wrong and then say that things are not even possible to translate on a level that matches your standards once people ask you to do better. It was a good idea because it gave a lot of characters additional lines of text in a lighthearted context. I think it was a first for minor characters like Yamame.
Even if nothing substantial happens, there are still a few funny moments and we learn a bit about the likes and dislikes of a few characters.

This. Danmaku philosophy generally relates to the character, but not every one is as obvious as Junko's pure power danmaku. For a lot of them, its not really that apparent without supplemental information like this.

I can get why some people wouldn't care as much, but this book came with little manga chapters and supplementary dialog unlike Marisa's, so I think its interesting even from that angle.

A translator should be comfortable enough with the language they are localizing a product into to come up with a choice of words independently a vast majority of the time, and should at least seek advice from someone else they can directly communicate with when having doubts about their choice of words. Using anything that's been translated as a reference is always a terrible idea, doubly so considering how much machine-translated bullshit there is going about.
