Mostly Laven, but one minute he's a nice guy and heroic, the next he's a coward and a psychopath. Also, the number of characters telling him he as a hero/king soul when he's often a petty and cruel little shit is just silly.

You know what, I fucked up there. I meant to say the girls were Mary Sues. All of them are unbeatably powerful on their own, and together they just stomp everything. No challenge. No growth. Just endless massacring the (human) enemy.

Which means its not really MGE. The setting has it's fair share of horrible things happening in the background, but monsters are meant to hate taking human lives and avoid it if possible. Laven's harem all have kill counts so high they might as well be Dynasty Warriors DLC, and they show no signs of giving any fucks about the bloodshed.

That's a poor excuse for having no characterization at all. People don't do things just because they're good or bad, they do things because they're motivated to do them. Making them cackling monsters is just lazy.

Long running or short?
For long running, Lanternon's stories are flawed but at least it has monster girls being monster girls, and people seem to have actual motivations for their actions on both sides.
YBA may have written Vengeance, which is edgy and not that great, but he also wrote Greystorm which is the best one shot I've read from this community.
Thunderbrother's Falling Leaves and Aviators are both amazing well written and have fantastic characters
Silent_II may have deleted everything but you can still find links to his short stories, and they were all really well done even if you could criticise many of them as "man meets monster and they fuck"
