I got a barr-io, I got floor switches. I need the wires/connectors that run from the switches to the barr-io.

I've sent a message winbig arcade a week ago about all this, no reply yet. Pretty sure it's xhb 7 pin but at this point I don't want to order shit, have it show up, find out it's actually some other variant of the connector or some shit so I'll probably solder wires directly to the leads.

Kinda sorta, sometimes. It depends. A DDR 2000 solo cab went for 1200 on eBay recently + at least 300 to freight ship then cleanup and a large amount of labor to convert it into a Stepmania-ready cabinet because lol at staying on a tiny selection of songs forever. Any cabs from the past 5 years is gonna be starting at like $5k++ easy. But yeah, if you look hard and/or have a good hookup, you can grab the 00's generation pads and/or cab for $800-2k depending on condition and all that fun stuff.

Taiko is all about memorizing patterns and breaking down complex sequences into smaller patterns.
It'd be easier to memorize patterns at first if you always try to start them with the same hand/input side and then alternate for each hit.
For example D-K-D you start with the right hand for D, left for K and right for D.

Just go to a random bemani discord/IRC channel and chill out for a while, you'll get one eventually. You're not missing out on much these days, everything can be found on other sites. The only thing you'll get is slightly better help on solving issues related to real hardware and sometimes find someone selling hardware but unless you're on the west coast most of it isn't feasible to get.

How do you even get into bemani if not introduced by a friend? Do people pop into arcades and put money into games they've never heard of?

It's my bias that I get the feeling the only people who go to the arcade are those who know what they want to play. Am I wrong?

Uploads of bemani music on youtube. If you listen to a lot of game music on youtube you will eventually get some bemani ost uploads recommended to you. Also a lot of youtube poopers would use tracks from bemani games in poops.

My local arcade had DDR when I was 5 and my parents took me there for a birthday or something.
It's not some sekret club. People stumble onto games and play them because they look cool. Can't imagine my experience differs very much from the majority of players.
