It's been days seen I'm locked at the same scene in harumade kururu since I cannot read it when the rest of my family is home.

Happiness 2 could've been an okay moege. They wanted more, but that made the game worse than it needed to be. The writers are fairly obviously not up to it. So all the route enforcement does is annoying you. The "grand" route is shit as well.

That said, it could've only been an okay moege. Even the more promising characters don't actually have good routes. It's sometimes amazing how badly and conveniently it's written. I don't know if the writers didn't give a shit or simply are that bad. Together with its route enforcement, I don't think this is anything anyone should bother with. Especially because last month had that Feng game. Not like it's super great, but it's definitely better than this, even with its one-dimensional heroines that don't have room to grow or shine.

I don't really know why they even bothered making this as a sequel to Happiness. That game was already so bad, that all people did was meme about the trap. The trap wasn't even that great, the rest was just so shit. Yes, this "sequel" is a little better, but the trap is worse. Were they really not aware what people "liked" about Happiness? They could've made an entirely gay game with only traps as heroes, and it would've been more fitting. Or a big joke of a game, where the trap steals the show all the time. Heck, maybe even where a trap of similar character is the MC. Instead they decided, that the declining EGS is still worth to vote stuff. Okay.

Bringing up a similar question to what the anons in previous threads discussed, but are there any games where the focus is on saving and more importantly, healing utterly miserable heroines? Regardless of whether there's antagonists to white knight the heroine from. I played Teaching Feeling recently without any prior knowledge apart from its premise and was completely blueballed by the content drying up rather quickly and the game quite literally not having an ending, so I'm in a mood for something similar.

EGS tag 大きな不幸を背負った助けたくなるヒロイン doesn't really seem helpful in this regard and lists plenty of games that while not technically mistagged, definitely didn't scratch the same type of itch in the slightest.

I don't follow the seiyuu themselves or even bother remembering their names but I almost always end up checking EGS or VNDB for what other characters they've voiced out of curiosity. It feels very weird hearing someone who you definitely have heard speaking before, but exactly where is right on the tip of your tongue.

Most I remember by name are Aoyama Yukari and Kawashima Rino, but that's because they have no range and sound exactly the same in every single title they're in, plus they're stuck in my head because both Asairo and Subahibi were very memorable games especially when I was starting out.

He kinda sucks at multi-route stuff. As soon as there are more than one or two heroines, things usually get crappy as you play the game.

He doesn't give a shit about logical story-telling and route branching. A certain event of common may mentally destroy a character in one route, but not in another. Even though it doesn't make sense at all, or perhaps would even need to be even worse. Or how something that needs a whole route to get achieved in one route, get's solved within a minute in another that makes you wonder why the fuck it had to take that long before. Depending on how much you care about this, it can be okay or awful. This shit always makes me sad, because you can just use the fucking stair-way system. It exists for this. If you do fucking BRANCHING, you need to have it make fucking sense. It's just a whole lot of suspension of disbelieve you need to do.

The Feng game also had another issue: EXTREMELY one dimensional heroines, that are defined by a thing or two and that's it. For the entire game they are one-trick ponies. No time to shine either. Kamome's route is supposedly the best, and she does nothing there. The protag does the few things that are actually written out, but let's be honest, that's not what you play the game for. It's nice that the protag isn't terrible and useless, but what does that do if the heroines are flat as fuck without anything going for them other than the one or two things they do the entire game on repeat?


Nakahiro is good if you have one or maybe two heroines. Past that it can get really really shaky.

-You get introduced to the heroines as if it's some TV shopping program. Every heroine gets a standard CG and a 2 minute infodump about why they are so awesome and why you have to like them. Back to back.
-After this, not even 10 minutes in, you are back to the beginning, but don't know anything more than before. There was probably a dumb fanservice scene there as well, but I'm not sure anymore.

It felt like someone wanted to write the whole thing as badly as they could. Not a lot of writers make me want to puke a few minutes in. This guy managed to do this three times. Maybe it was unlucky, but... I kinda doubt it. It just feels so disgusting in a way.

I guess it's more about what you care about in the game. If you really care about consistent story, elaborate setting used as much as possible for the story, all the small bits having some place and underlying meaning in the story, etc, then his writing clearly won't make you happy at all. But if you care more about various fun interactions and moments with heroines, while setting, storylines, etc are just convenient background for the characters, then his writing is actually quite enjoyable.

Kinkoi FD was, as expected, something that didn't need to exist. Actually, it probably shouldn't exist.

The good:
There is a good amount of stuff that's very similar to the later parts of the original's common route and beginning of routes. The game's strength was never the romance, so it's appreciated. You get nicely back into the group of characters and setting, and it's definitely fun. Perhaps not a lot of substance, but that's okay.

The bad:
-The game starts with a 3+ hour "prologue" which is essentially a huge recap. At first it's fast and looks like it's over soon enough, but then it starts to slow down. Mostly because the scenes aren't really just copy and paste, but essentially still not really that different.
-While Mina's route was mostly okay, just unimpressive, Ayaka doesn't really work as a heroine in my opinion. She's all about silly anal jokes, being not super likable and so on, and not romance. As such, her route failed towards the second half. Before that is was fun though. Her omake was a fun idea, but unfortunately it ended up in a "gotta please everyone" way... which obviously implies nobody will really like this.
-After-stories are REALLY short. Not much of a problem though given how they are mostly not very interesting. But perhaps making them longer and interesting would've been more fitting for a FD.
-The final story is ass, on top of being fucking lazy. Why the fuck didn't they give Ria another set of sprites? The one that's largely used doesn't fit at all. She has to literally run around in her fucking dress for official concerts and the likes ALL THE FUCKING TIME. This was way too "we've been here before", too, kinda rubbing it in how much this was never needed.
-There's problems with art and voices in general. Something went wrong. Artist changes? Crappy recording quality of the voices? I don't know.


You can have some fun with this, but it's made harder than it needed to be.

Kinda. The whole genre is pretty much in a creative slump right now. Quite a few VNs prove that it's possible to write interesting stories and characters. Or alternatively good porn though I think that's something that improved over the last few years.
I feel like a market crash may help breath new life into the VN scene. Because right now it's mostly just the same generic shit over and over again or as soon as one company manages to write something good they decide to milk it till they die (like age, Frontwing, Minato Soft, etc.).

I've played a ton of eroge at this point, and while things like "dumping why the girl is all awesome" isn't that rare, this kind of thing I've never seen somewhere else. Even if something is just a product, there's usually some care involved. To say it with a metaphor: The difference between a carefully handcrafted product, and something made in a huge factory with underpaid and overworked workers maintaining the machines producing stuff in rapid succession. Not even something like Cocoro＠Function! made me feel like that, and that's a prime example of "eroge shovelware", where the entire game is put together within like half a year and every single damn thing has been produced separately, including lazy CG without much context so they can be easily used whenever.

I probably just really dislike that writer's style though, as the other 2 example didn't have that, but still felt just as terrible regardless.

I read Camus for a few hours. I really like the music and the atmosfere in the game, but sometimes the moodswings are just jarring.
