Consult grammar guides if necessary. Use anime, manga, VNs, etc. to reinforce whatever you've learnt, not as actual learning material.
Forget about methods or anything else. Do whatever you plan on following through.

Since it has many meanings it's not something that can be explained. You'll just have to get a feel for them. But some special cases that you should look up where it has rather unique meanings are 言い訳 or 申し訳, と言う訳だ, 訳あって and 訳あり, ...訳がない, 訳がわからない and probably forgot some others.
There are all rather idiomatic and something you can't guess from just knowing the definition for 訳.

Would it be possible for me to become not exactly fluent, but at least good enough to read eroge and LNs, and to kind of communicate with Japanese people on a basic level? Kira Kira is pretty fucking boring so far. Only managed to make it through 2 days of the story up to now because reading it puts me to sleep.

I'm struggling to understand why this was even made as a VN. I guess it's just due to the musical focus of the story so they'll be able to play the songs since otherwise it just reads like an LN. For the most part, sections of spoken dialogue are few and far between, and even when you eventually do get to some dialogue it's interrupted every line by long, waffling walls of narration. I don't think I can force myself through much more of this so hopefully the plot starts to pick up soon.

The first time I tried reading it I gave up because it was too hard. This time it looks like I'm going to give up because it's too boring.

Just got Nanoha's good ending. Man, between her good end and Rain's good end, it feels like there's not much left to explore with Chinatsu's route, to say nothing of there being an entire second half of the game in Dive 2. I enjoy the gameplay and the characters enough to keep going, but I'm hoping some seriously crazy shit shakes things up in Chinatsu's route, because so far we've learned the answers to most of the remaining mysteries, the most important one being what really happened to cause the Grey Christmas.

Seems I thought wrong:
https://github.com/wareya/nazeka/issues/11
https://github.com/wareya/nazeka_epwing_converter
https://github.com/wareya/nazeka_epwing_converter/issues/1

The dev seems to be taking the same approach to EPWING support as Yomichan's dev did, where the extension will not support EPWING dictionaries themselves and instead requires you to convert them first to JSON format and then import them.

From what I can gather though, it seems like Nazeka doesn't let you use EPWINGs converted to JSON via Zero-EPWING for some reason. it looks like you have to first convert the EPWING to a zipped archive of JSON files using Zero-EPWING, then convert that zipped archive into a single JSON file using Nazeka's own EPWING converter. Why this is, I have no idea.

The readme on the github page for Nazeka's EPWING converter is 2 months old though, whereas the converter itself has been updated as recently as yesterday, so I don't know how accurate or up to date any of this information still is.

So to summarize, it seems support for EPWING technically exists but there's no easy means of converting the dictionaries into a format that Nazeka can read right now, so for all practical purposes you can't use EPWING dictionaries with Nazeka.

>From what I can gather though, it seems like Nazeka doesn't let you use EPWINGs converted to JSON via Zero-EPWING for some reason.
Yomichan can't read the output of zero-epwing directly either, you have to use https://github.com/FooSoft/yomichan-import/, which itself uses zero-epwing internally. Why? Who knows.
>it looks like you have to first convert the EPWING to a zipped archive of JSON files using Zero-EPWING
zero-epwing produces a single loose json file.
>then convert that zipped archive into a single JSON file using Nazeka's own EPWING converter. Why this is, I have no idea.
It's because zero-epwing outputs things "as-is" and they have to be simplified/fixed up to be useful. For example 外字 are actually images and the references to them have to be replaced with actual characters. The addon could probably do this on its own but the converter's Rust code is a hell of a lot cleaner and more readable than nazeka's Javascript so it's probably for the best that it's a separate program.

>The readme [...] is 2 months old though
This is completely normal. I've seen readmes that weren't updated for years.

Anyways, converting dictionaries is a lot better than talking to some hacky windows program in real time to parse epwing dictionaries for you like rikaisama does. It made a lot of epwing dictionaries unusable, since they had so many example sentences (no, regex filtering wasn't good enough), and if something went wrong with the hacky epwing reading program you were out of luck.

Everyone's just going to pirate their dictionaries anyway, might as well just pirate them preconverted like people started doing for yomichan dictionaries.

thanks for the kind advice. i think my problem is making the decision of what to do with each new word once ive encountered it. anki? or just leave it to input? anki? or leave it to input? its like i get decision fatigue if i have to decide so i either throw it all in anki or leave it all to immersion
the only exception are words that were just very easy and obvious given what i already know. like 紙袋 or something. its easy to leave ones like those but everything else i just can't consistently decide in a way that feels even remotely logical arghhh.

like i recently tried leaving words with kanji i already know and anki-ing only words with new kanji, but i found that often words with kanji i already know would have meanings or readings i wouldn't expect from looking at the kanji and so it seemed i should add those to anki too. sigh

>Yomichan can't read the output of zero-epwing directly either, you have to use https://github.com/FooSoft/yomichan-import/, which itself uses zero-epwing internally. Why? Who knows.
Shit, I forgot about that. It's been so long since I used Yomichan that I forgot it had its own converter and you didn't just use Zero-EPWING itself. The bit about zipped archives of JSON files is due to the same mistake. I have some Yomichan dictionaries still on my hard drive so I just looked at them thinking they had come directly from Zero-EPWING.

>Anyways, converting dictionaries is a lot better than talking to some hacky windows program in real time to parse epwing dictionaries for you like rikaisama does.
Yeah, what put me off using EPWING more than anything under Rikaisama was the annoying lag they had as a result of this.

>It made a lot of epwing dictionaries unusable, since they had so many example sentences
And this was/is the other big problem. The Kenkyuusha dictionary has an insane amount of example sentences. It's basically unusable in a Rikai-like add-on setting as-is.

There's a similar problem with the Daijirin dictionary since its J-J and J-E versions are bundled in a single dictionary, so you end up having to either use both (which takes up a lot of visual space and makes it basically unusable) or none.

Not them, but I think it depends on the languages you've learned. If you've gotten fluent in two以上 languages that are quite different from your own, and done so while an adult, I would say that's impressive. You're also omitting the fact that it's practically effortless for little kids to learn a language where as even for a language that's fairly similar to your native one you still have to put in some decent time and effort to get fluent at it in adulthood. and with a drastically different language the difficulty is exponential.

兵庫県宝塚市にある宝塚音楽学校は、女優や歌手を育てる女性だけの学校です。バレエや音楽などを2年勉強して、舞台では女性が男性の役もします。卒業した人の中には有名な人がたくさんいて、入学するのがとても難しい学校です。
>Located in the Hyougo prefecture, the Takarazuka Music School is a female only school that trains its students in the arts of acting and singing. They study ballet and music for two years while imitating the man's role on the stage. With many famous people among the graduates, it is a very difficult school to enter.

28日、入学の試験に合格した人の発表がありました。学校によると、今年は915人が試験を受けて40人が合格しました。合格した人の番号を書いた紙の前では、自分の番号を見つけた人たちがうれしくて泣いたり、写真を撮ったりしていました。

[not confident enough to put the rest into proper words; the ones who passed took pictures and cried happily when they saw their ID numbers written on what I assume was a bulletin board)

合格した17歳の女性は「夢のようです。将来はかっこいい男性の役をしたいです」と話していました。

I think the main potential dilemma is time with anki vs input time. Depending on the size of your deck, the time it takes to complete your daily reps can get pretty ridiculous. At some point you have to start questioning if that time would be better spent just getting normal input. And not only that, but anki potentially cuts into the rest of your daily activities. So if anki isn't too time-consuming, then go ahead and reap the benefits, but it's something you wanna think about.

It depends on the word of course, but to a pretty far degree it's hard to guarantee that you'll find the suspended card soon enough in your input to where you wouldn't have forgotten it before it would've been due in anki. So these aren't my answers but these are the answers I was given. 1) some girls do it to be cutesy in some writing. 2) sometimes this is a way to indicate that a child is speaking. The first inn in Bravely Default has an adult that says 大丈夫 and a child that says だいじょうぶ. The Yotsuba kid also doesn't use kanji often.
Basically I took these two answer to mean it's a stylized thing when someone uses Kana over Kanji.

Bloated, slow, ugly abandonware with buggy deconjugation.

Back when Rikaisama devs declared they would no longer support Rikaisama following the announcement by Mozilla that they were changing their Firefox addon API, nobody here wanted to switch to Yomichan because it was objectively inferior in every way, but nobody ever took up the mantle of converting Rikaisama to the new API so everybody ended up reluctantly having to switch once support for the old API came to an end. Some even, rather than switching to Yomichan, switched to Firefox ESR just to avoid having to use Yomichan for that bit longer, or even moved to Firefox forks which, while shitty, preserved the old API like Waterfox and FurfagMoon.

I guess if you never used Rikaisama then maybe you can't appreciate how much Yomichan sucks. If Rikaisama were still worked though, nobody would be using Yomichan.

>Oh. My. Goodness! My senses feel assaulted … as would my wallet, if I had had to pay for these. With every smack of the snare and blare of a trumpet my eyes wince in pain. Fast transient edges are transformed into indiscriminate micro-bursts of tizz. Likewise, low notes are powerful, but have lost all definition as they are reduced to a bloated blur. The mid-range seems like it could be pretty good, but I hear it as so disconnected from all else that I could hardly keep track of what’s what in the confused aural picture. I’ve heard worse headphones before, but for $2749 these have got to be the worst price/performance headphones I’ve ever experienced.
