I've just watched a few episodes of ufotable's UBW anime and I can't shake a feeling that there is something a little off about Rin. She isn't quite her VN self. Does anyone know what I mean?

Nasu is most likely going back on his original plan to make the Aylesbury Valesti related to Extra (some people will claim that was BL's headcanon the whole time, but the connection seemed obvious).
He's been hinting at a different origin for Extra with the Overcount 1999 thing in Last Encore.
There's also beene hints towards the events that caused the separation between Fate and Tsukihime worlds in the new lore, which I hope they delve into at some point.

I'm going through the games and finally got to extella, and it is really interesting seeing how wada arco's style changed from exrta to extella. It is kind of like going from early windows ZUN art to current ZUN art in terms of how it feels.

she normalized her artwork a lot overall, and in some cases i think it's been a detriment to her style. i don't think she was ever a bad artist - certainly not comparable to ZUN - and she just did things her own way; i.e. super uguu eyes and ultra-thin, almost inhuman bodies. it was clearly a stylistic choice, but it wasn't always done in that style - her version of Arc looks pretty fucking cool and dignified.

the normalization of her artwork has had its ups-and-downs; i certainly prefer the way she draws bodies these days, but the uguu eyes never bugged me, and i find that her expressions, coloring, and posing were a lot more charismatic pre-FGO. adopting Takeuchi-esque sharp noses is especially disgusting, and in Link, some characters (like Scat or Astolfo) look absolutely horrible or simply bizarre (Casko's rock-bottom nose position frankly makes her look like a horseface)

that being said i only really dislike her Extella output; the stuff that she's turned in for FGO - as well as her sketches - is still pretty alright. miss the old coloring style, though.

I guess ZUN is a bit too extreme. I more meant that you can tell it is the same artist but it looks extremely different. Most of her art was alirght and was just extremely stylized, but a few characters just looked wonky, like tron-lancer. The only other problem I had was that not all females were stylized, such as Fracis Drake, and that men felt too normalized and somewhat out of place given her style. Although, it is funny how Lu Bu felt like he was realistically buff in EXTRA yet in EXTELLA it looks like he went GOMAD while eating pure steroids.

Plus, for what it counts from what I can see the officially licensced figs tend to give her four ears and while it could have been lazyness she has four ears in extella. There's a Land of Steel situation but not decline of Humanity but the opposite. Humanity is stronger than ever and capable to ditch Gaia in Extra, going out to space after a brief Mooncell transfer as middle step (as we know happened with Hakuno in a CCC ending).

It's achieving the same end of "humanity kills Gaia and leaves its rotting corpse behind to transcend their existence" as seems endgame to the rest of Fate. Notes meanwhile have humanity unable to leave the planet they killed.

It is headcanon, though because Mooncell is called Type Moon, thus Crimson Moon never existed in Extra. Without Crimson Moon, there is no Dark Six which is the purpose of that ritual in the first place. It could utilize the resources of the same place but doesn't mean is the same ritual or has the same purpose. Obviously it doesn't.

Finished Extella Link. Ending is a bit underwhelming, and I hate how they're already hinting at a way to bring both Charles back in a sequel, even though the combined version would be more interesting
Overall, it's definitely better than the first. Story doesn't drag on, Tamamo and Nero take a backseat, Karl is a better villain that Archimedes. Still hope for way more from future Extra games though.

Just so you're aware, it's basically feature-complete as it already is, and outside of the aforementioned "wide" mode bugs, the only other bugs I myself am aware of are the following:

1. after playing the OP videos during the actual story, the sizing of the program window and/or its contents may get a little borky (this can be solved by just restarting the program, but you can also completely avoid the issue by enabling the patch option to "skip movies in-game")

2. there's sometimes a sort of quiet "crackling" sound that you can hear in silent scenes that most noticeably plays when you load a save file for such a silent scene



As for when a final 1.0 version will actually release? Well, "when it's done" probably.

I can definitely say no sooner than whenever Quibi returns however (he' the project's resident expert coder, but he's currently on a long-term break until possibly June or so).


It's also worth noting that there's a couple minor features and improvements planned such as (but possibly not limited to):

- non-letterboxed fullscreen in "wide" mode for ratios between 16:9 and 4:3
- seemless looping music during "last episode" when "disable forced auto-read" is enabled
- higher quality Vita OPs (in terms of compression artifacts, not resolution)
- slightly higher quality art assets for "high" quality mode (primarily higher chroma resolution)

Sakura may not be unpopular anymore, but it looks absolutely stupid to saturate a market that doesn't have a lot of demands plus using a Servant (or even probably a Beast) in another uncreative attempt to shill. What's wrong with an actual creative design that does not have any references? This is like scrapping the bottom of the barrel. Also I never really associated Scat with Aoko too much at least as far as the original faces of either is concerned. Shiki wakes up from an accident with the mystic eyes of death perception and meets Aoko who gives him mystic eye killers to supress them. Nero attacks the hotel leaving 300(?) missing. Shiki replaces Arcs duct tape with actual bandages then they lure out Nero in the park. He traps Arcuied but underestimates Shiki and gets dealt with. He mentions however theres another DA in the city. Shiki returns home to his worried relatives and goes to sleep. He has a dream about Arcuied that night. The next day he meets Arcuied in the park and lets it slip that he dreamed of her. She then proceeds to wander off and kill a ghoul who was roaming about. Some stuff got hazy for me but I do remember Shiki eventually tries to rape her but gives up. They learn about Roa and have sex. He meets Roa at the school and gets stabbed with Roas mystic eyes helping him. Ciel helps him back to the school and Arcuied uses marvle phantasm to reduce Roa to his ankles but it wasnt strong enough and he regenerates killing her. Shiki and Roa fight and Shiki learns Roa has different mystic eyes than him so he kills the walkway and finishes his off. Ciel takes the credit for the kill so as the absolve him of the sin. He then waits in the classroom he took Arc to before and she says her final farewell before returning to her castle

Did Shirou really do the right thing in turning down a grail he couldn't have known was defective?

I understand that the emotional thrust of the Fate route is Shirou and Saber coming to terms with their regrets and trauma, but Shirou doesn't seem to spend any time weighing up the potential value of wishing all those lives back. Obviously it's inconsequential due to the nature of the grail (and the value of the story hinges on Shirou's resolution to accept the past) -- but supposing the story were more straightforward and the grail's power could be trusted (with the servants as evidence), is it still moral of Shirou to decline that opportunity?

I was going to bring up Arturia's case too, but I've just realized the story doesn't make sense in the first place if the grail was real and the previous war had played out the same way, so this line of thought is complicated and ultimately aimless
