I just think it's all about your goal. If you want to be a japanese master you need to learn it. If you don't care about having shortcomings then you'll probably skip over it.

Also if you're a hobbyist it's easy to say stuff doesn't matter because you don't need the language for anything.

I stopped doing RTK, going to do Pitch Accent first with Dogen's course, and going to re-start RTK more than a year after that.

～ you will get the most out of every reading session and a sense of tangible improvement every day bc you'll keep seeing things you've learned in the wild and being glad you learned em

tips for how to do this
* use tools for easy adding like yomichan or bulk list imports from dictionary apps. avoid time-consuming manual card creation whenever you can
* farm your own cards from reading and listening, DON'T use premade lists
* set up speed focus addon so you have to beat the timer for each card or else it auto-fails
* recall the reading before flipping the card, but for the meaning allow yourself to read the one that fits the context you found it in best, rather than trying to consciously recall it (and ignore the defs that don't apply). that meaning will stick naturally after you've read it a few times
* code your card theme to be visually appealing to you
* use an addon that can show you cute moe girls or ero pics every 10 or so reviews you clear (or link it to your meme folder for congratulatory laughs)
* liberally suspend cards that you encountered again in the wild and got correct. think of this as graduating the card once its served its purpose - which is holding the word in your memory till the next real encounter. if you forget it in the future, which you most likely won't if you keep reading, you can always re-activate it
* liberally suspend mature cards that you're tired of reviewing even if you haven't seen it in the wild again yet. if its a few months old chances are its old enough to recognize the next time it appears in context, whenever that may be. and in case it isn't, you can always re-activate it if you ever see it again and feel the need to study it more. no need to keep reviewing old, limp cards that haven't proven useful. THIS IS USUALLY WHAT MAKES PEOPLE HATE ANKI. keep your deck fresh, alive and relevant
* set a cap on adding new words so that reading and listening still proportionally take up more of your time than anki does

Yes, but your pitch accent will still be inconsistent. What makes foreigners speaking pitch accent languages awful to listen to isn't that their pitch accent is wrong, it's that it's all over the place. Hard to get this across to someone who doesn't understand pitch accent at all, but if you say a certain word with the same pitch pattern every time even if it's wrong that will sound a lot better than if it's inconsistent.

How does one master the art of learning kanji faster? I’m recognising the ones who are commonly repeated in the basic contexts. Like kanji for dating and time or curency, for Japan, China, mommy, daddy, etc.
In short the most common 50.
But I obviously want to get into the kanji that are more rarely used.
I’m learning them by practicing strokes now but it’s difficult to keep this up.

not him but I find hit impossible to remember kanji without radicals, its really important to being able to disect them and go (tree - stand up - axe) in your head when reading 新 because you'll be able to come up with storiies for mnemonics. Any rtk based method would work like rtk or kanjidamage using anki, good decks will slowly progress you through new radicals and their kanji

I’m really enjoying all aspects of Japanese except the kanji. I’m learning the grammar so much faster because I’m good at understanding the rules and exceptions. But kanji feels so far like basically just memorising pictures.

But recently someone told me that they only take you to an intermediate level of Japanese grammar (he said N3). So now I want to know what resources can I use to reach an advance level of grammar. I already tried this 100 new cards a couple of times. I can retain around 95% for the next day. The problem is that doing it for more than 1 day will hugely increase my daily review numbers.

25-30 a day is optimal for me for long term. I've done way more than that a day before but after a week your retention plumments. The brain can only remember so much. 30/day is still 11k a year and after a few months the reviews are pretty rediculous. but 100 new cards every day is a lot. try 100 cards every 2 or 3 days. it will create enough rest time in between sets to not burn out and to focus on reading and integrating what you study. also make sure you get that speed focus addon plus the addon with rewarding images. and change your second step to like 30~60 minutes rather than 10 minutes, to allow each word to soak in a bit more before it leaves the learning phase.

oh and i forgot one more important thing! try suspending cards you see in the wild again during your reading, even if you just learned it a few days ago. i've found that that second or third encounter when i just knew it without a doubt in context, was as valuable as a month or more of reviewing it in anki. doing this will reduce your load while reinforcing and rewarding your learning. if you forget the word in the future (which you probably won't) you can always unsuspend.

I looked it up using the radicals. To the left of the search bar on the website the middle picture says "radicals". Then just find the radicals and the kanji will show up. Though, while this has only happened to be a handful of times, I have encountered some kanji that don't show up even if you select their radicals correctly. I don't obsess about it, I just think ignoring one aspect of the language is stupid, you wouldn't tell someone learning English to just ignore stress accent, would you? They would be god awful to listen to if they did.
