There are a lot of grimdark interpretations of KC's setting, though a lot of them were based on an incomplete or inaccurate understanding. A lot of the arguments have been discredited as more material gets translated. There are certain aspects of course (like forced monsterization, how the settings treats same sex couples, and so on) that simply aren't meant to appeal to real world sensibilities and are meant to apply to the fantasy world only.

If I were to summarize a lot of grimdark arguments, they'd be that the MGE is a hellhole of a world where everyone gets turned into brainwashed sex slaves who only think about sex, monsterization kills the original person, the mamono lord is destroying humanity, etc.

Well the ear openings shouldn't be much larger than a human's. Ear infections from water in the ears are only such an issue for some dogs because they've been bred to have floppy ears and such ears don't dry as well on their own (dogs don't know any better as air drying is all their ancestral wolves needed). Would the very idea of some nobody homeless orphan being adopted and raised by a witch make for a rather decent back story for characters or a narrative?

I want to imagine the Demon Lord and her Daughters' regimes hire out ex-paladins/ex-heroes who've incubized but still haven't given up their druthers to track down and deal with abusive mamono.
Abusers are probably antithetical to the DL's Grand Plan, as not only do they sorta prove Order propaganda right(monsters are bad for humanity), but I can't imagine that the so-called benevolent Demon Lord would want to tolerate monsters treating humans like shit in the name of love.

So you take these hardened veterans who are probably broke, still coming to terms with their incubus traits/monster social norms and ideals, and probably still having a bone to pick with some types of monsters, and use them to slap scumbag monsters around.
