I've always seen the earlier dread of the grave scenes to be an imitation of what the "true" Battler (i.e. the 18-year-old mystery nut) would do merely in form, with the later scenes (Battler vs. Erika chain deathmatch) being what the "true" Battler would do both in form and substance, i.e. actually be able to solve shit while looking cool.

I was pretty far but I liked my theory and thought I had the answer to most things until I realize that Kanon and Shannon were the same person at the end of EP6
My theory until then was that Shannon, Kanon and Battler were all the childrens of Kuwadorian Beatrice and Kinzo, and that Battler was the baby Kinzo gave to Natsuhi to be raised as the head (and like some kind of resurrection of Kinzo) but since she obviously didn't want him he was given to Asumu and Rudolf. Battler's sin was that he left too soon and didn't come back until Kinzo died and thus couldn't be crowned as the head in time or something. Also he was supposed to marry Shannon, the daughter and "resurrection" of Beatrice to recreate the true "Ushiromiya-Beatrice" family.
The culprits to all murders were all the servants and Nanjo and they were instructed by Kinzo before he died to murder random people except Battler so he could solve the epitaph and become the new head, but halfway through most games Shannon and Kanon rebelled cause they were sick of everything and just wanted to marry their true loved ones and shit went wild.
I wasn't 100% sure but I thought maybe Beatrice wasn't a single person but the personification of the Ushiromiya-Beatrice family, that's why she tortured Shannon and Kanon in episode 2
Also I wasn't 100% sure either but in my head it was possible that Kumasawa was the original Beatrice, the mother of Kuwadorian Beatrice

I had half a solution worked out for the epitaph. I was focused on "sweetfish", which seemed a really specific translation for a kanji that could also have been read "trout" (I have no real knowledge of moon). I wrote this off as "a clue which has not been fully hinted yet".

As to the ritual, I focused on "tear apart the two who are close", and thinking that it had something to do with the green alcohol, I got it into my head that the ritual was a set of instructions for a chemical procedure. Perhaps the second twilight was dissolving a salt, or something. "Gouge" could mean "stick into [the system] and stir", and "kill" might mean "discard the precipitate". Maybe there was an old alchemical system that would tell you want "knee" meant.

After I thought about that for a while, I realized that I could also explain how Kinzo had the astronomical amount of 10 tons of gold, and why it was so rarely seen. He didn't have 10 tons of gold in bar form, he had 10 tons of a solution that included dissolved gold, perhaps in an underground inlet that he had converted and sealed off. The epitaph was instructions for reconstituting it, but meanwhile he was drinking it and going mad.

I knew I was probably wrong, and as soon as the midpoint of Ep3 rolled around that became definite, but I still like parts of it.

I also had some ideas for getting around the early key puzzles by allowing extra master keys made out of wax, which melted before the red text prohibiting them was said.

Glad to hear you like the idea. You could even go full logic battle with it, with Battler pushing to force Erika to strip. Stuff like Erika using the devil's proof to claim that he can't disprove the existence of her breasts, to which Battler would counter with Hempel's Raven, saying that even without seeing her breasts, he can conclude that she's tiny by using the contrapositive "All women besides Erika are busty, therefore Erika is small."

Another possible way to confirm without making her strip would be to slip his hands into her top to feel her breasts directly. though if he took that route his next action would be to claim that she's hiding evidence in her bra, saying she must either remove it in front of him or let him feel around inside the cups.

Erika's alternate plan of confirming Battler's alibi for the night. Sure listening in on his room all night could work, but she goes for a more direct approach.

I've always had a bit of a theory that upon becoming Bern's piece Erika's appearance was changed a bit, hence Bern mentioning how she'd been given the same blue hair as her. Lambda also did the same thing upon becoming Yasu's guardian, giving her blonde hair. It's possible Erika's age was lowered then to match Bern's as her body double.
