The JLPT Tango N5 deck may be up your alley. Here's a video going over first five chapters with two other videos covering the last five. All 10 chapters (1200 words/sentences) took about 4 hours to record. Kanji starts being used from chapter three onward, but seems to be limited to N5 kanji (reasonable given the book).

Here's the JLPT Tango N4 video for chapter 1 of that book. The last video should be done tomorrow. All seven chapters took about 14 hours to record.

Heads up that I only share the Anki deck with people that offer modest proof of ownership of the book. However, the videos should give you an idea if the deck is for you.

Just something I've done historically when we were as a group transcribing books (UBJG or 2k1KO) to speed up sentence mining. For Tango, they're not that expensive (well, that's relative since $15 could be a day's pay in same countries) but the publishers offer the audio for free. They even accepted my request and split up the vocabulary audio and sentence audio. Plus, I made sure they know what I'm doing and they seem cool with it.

I'm not naive though. Nothing I can do to stop anyone from sharing a deck once they get it. People just seem not to do it aside from that one guy that shared the Tango N5 decks here back in August.

As far as Matt's deck, its for guys that you assume follow MIA so studied 3000 (well now 1000 lazy) kanji first. They probably care just about sentences and not stand alone vocabulary from the book. The deck I share tries to match the book as some that use it may not study kanji first.

AGAIN, I was serious for first two to three years when I got stationed in Japan and really hit hard when I was deployed to Africa. Coming back, due to work and other stuff, I just stopped watching Japanese stuff. Besides sharing decks or spreadsheets and the remembering the kana videos, I didn't really get back to Japanese till mid-2016. Even then it was more putting my courses on Memrise, but that slowly got me re-interested in getting back to where I was in 2010 (low N3 equivalent with 3500 Core 6k words and 8 mined drama by time I quit). In reality, I just wasted a lot of time making those courses. Burnt out for two months in 2016 till I started doing youtube videos of my reviews. Then I burnt out a year later and pretty much stopped for six months. Happen to meet Matt who was lurking on my stream, had an hour chat, and after that changed my approach. Moved back to Anki after that.

Here's the fucked up thing: aside from subs2srs of four episodes of Terrace House, I didn't learn anything new. It was hearing about the Tango books and getting to the N4 and N3 book where I began learning new words in bulk. At that time found DJT and loved your guy's insane approach to reading daily. Started doing that in October and it's been great (yeah, yeah, I use a pop-up dictionary and read along with audio, fuck you).

Long story short, I suck at Japanese and nobody should take my advice.
