I'm not sold on this from a technical perspective. It's not completely wrong and it has some points, but I do believe that what we encounter as our wake consciousness really does think in language and there are other separate entities that think more in pictures, feelings and such.

However the main point still holds, as long as you are basically translating everything in your head you can't get to a more fluent state. Although I personally prioritize listening above everything else, there are still very good reasons to go with reading first. The most obvious one is that almost all of the approved learning resources focus on reading. However it's still imperative that you focus on the content you enjoy the most. Speaking of mouseovering, it feels like I stagnated for like 3 years reading VNs on PC, and then I finally made another level up when I played Utawarerumono 2-3 on PS3, since it didn't come out on PC.
