Post photographs and videos you or others have taken around Japan.
Modern or traditional, urban or rural, landscape or macro, anything is good.

Try to keep pictures natural looking if possible.
If you know the location a photo was taken, it is useful to post it with the image.

If you go back you should do the Suwa Taisha shrine circuit in neighboring Shimosuwa, and there's a Moriya Shrine in Okaya that's become a minor otaku pilgrimage spot for Touhou fans.

Is it possible to live off of 1.9 million yen for a year in Japan. I might be eligible for a grant and a year long internship (engineering) through one of EU-Japan programs. But that's about 50% less than the average yearly salary in Japan so I'm worried if that'll be enough since I won't really have any other income or money.

Okay. If you have housing then it's doable, but you won't really have spending money unless they're mostly supplying meals as well.
I guess if it's just a one year thing you won't have to worry so much about taxes, health insurance and pension as well, so that'll be on your side.

Couple over the years, Panasonic DMC-FT2 average box when studying for 6 months in 2012 the first trip, then an Olympus EPM-2 which I loved and most of the pics I've dumped were taken with till 2017, then a Sony DSC-HX60V till now as the EPM-2's shutter was on the way out after 4 years and 50,000K plus shots.

First failed trip up Fuji in the rain where it got a bit moist didn't help it either, (had to evacuate full speed down the mountain at the 8th station with everyone due to getting hit by a storm, they really don't care if you're stuck outside in biting rain at 3250m, pic related)

Okay I got everything organised, this should be pretty much everything posted to these threads (and some related stuff from the Aizuwakamatsu cam threads and other random places) since some time in 2015~2016.
It's possible there are random 2hu butts or something in there since I used to save everything from /jp/ to the same folder but I'm pretty sure I sorted it all out.

https://mega.nz/#F!Oww0lAhT!Xb4YvUVb3Jb5P8FlOojh7Q

You can use the Download as ZIP button in the top right to download the whole thing, it's just over 5GB as of now.
I'll put the link in the OP next thread and keep the folder updated.

Bath-wise probably has the best rotenburo (multiple) I've been to, scenery is great, baths are clean, and huge.

If you spent enough time in the train thread you'd notice that lots of trains have wraparound ads.

The location is written on the sign.

It's a rockslide warning for the area of Otoudani river, or Otou valley river (御塔谷川), a tributary of Kamo river (加茂川).

It's signed Ehime prefecture, Saijo city (愛媛県 西条市).

Can't post links since this site sucks but the valley in question seems to be at 33°47'28.4"N 133°08'44.6"E in Google Maps, it's near a ropeway.

You at least checked if there would be a return bus... right?

Abd I thought I was taking risks by walking through a sealed off path at Meiji's mausoleum, getting lost on a forestry path for an hour that seemed to go deeper and deeper into a forest of nowhere, only to eventually escape by finding a hole in a fence it passed by that lead to the car park of the old, shut-down, Fushimi Catle reconstruction that I had no idea even existed.

I think we are 3 guys here, Im the one who posted the DSC filename pictures
And I ALSO was in Nikko in May last year lmao
Only for one day, It was during Shunki Reitaisai tho, so I really enjoyed it.

I also found it the most "crowded" or at least the most touristy, BUT that's speaking only for Japanese standards... Nothing to do with any tourist trap in Europe, ie, Rome, Paris, Barcelona, Granada...
I think the only place in Japan that can get near those levels may be Kyoto I guess (never been there)
Anyway, in the same trip I visited a couple of other random towns in rural mountainous areas and I found them almost as beautiful as NIkko, and 100x times more authentic. I really recommend hopping in random trains like that other anon said, or if you don't feel yourself so bold, at least including visits to less known areas beforehand...
