Actually, as near as I can tell, Suicide Attack does unresistable non-elemental damage. (Not to be confused with Close Suicide, which is used by your undead when you use Necro Force to make them self-destruct. Close Suicide does magic-element damage.)
...At least, I THINK I'm reading the calcskill function correctly. Some of these entries look like typos.
>bonus = ele == SKILL_NONE
There are a lot of "ele = SKILL_NONE" lines. ...Although as near as I can tell, they're completely redundant, since that's the default value and the function returns immediately afterward.

Special action damage doesn't scale well, as a rule. Powerful early in the game, falls behind later on. Lean on it while you're establishing yourself, but plan on dropping it eventually.
Strings Assassin was a good choice, I'd say. Thief comes with the Tactics skill it needs, and Dancing Wire can be useful.

In ElonaPlus, very few feats are really useful, and you can get all of them eventually. Early levels are hard so your first few feats are important for your survival, but after that you will only be using utility stuff like Dancing Wire.
Another issue is that using special actions as your main source of damage will give you mediocre attribute/skill training compared to normal attacks (the ones with good damage scaling). Save your assassin strings for annoying and hard enemies, use normal attacks for anything else.

>> No.20706431

>>20706336

>> No.20706523

>>20706336
Honest question, how many places in the code effect the scaling of skills/what would it take to make it so skills added experience to stats?
I was wondering if the reason none of the code tweaks ever messed with stuff like that (since most people complain there are all these special acts that wind up being useless) was to avoid making the game too easy, or if it was just because the amount of time needed to crawl through the HSP wasn't worth the effort.

>> No.20706671

>>20706523
That stuff's actually semi-straightforward. Damage is inflicted with a call to "dmghp", and exp is added with a call to "skillexp".
For example, Blade Strings' damage is:
>dmghp tc, (sdata(SKILL_ATTR_DEX, cc) / 5 + 4) * ((sdata(SKILL_NORMAL_TACTICS, cc) + 1) / 5 + 3) * 2 + rnd(sdata(SKILL_NORMAL_TACTICS, cc) * 2 + 5) + 1, cc, SKILL_RESDMG_CRUSH, 1000
And the exp gain is:
>skillexp SKILL_NORMAL_TACTICS, cc, 40

>> No.20706677

>>20706431
Both Shadow Step (level 30 Stealth skill) and Dancing Wire (assassin feat and level 40 Tactics skill) are very useful for melee classes/builds, even though you don't expect a typical "ME STRONK ME SMASH" archetype to rely on backstabbing tricks (classes and archetypes in general don't mean anything in ElonaPlus. Maybe things are different in other Elona variants like the Omake family, but everyone's archetype in Plus is "murder hobo").
Shadow Step will teleport you to the target of choice and immediately attack it, while Dancing Wire will pull the target to you and apply a minor Bind debuff (target can't move, unless the target is way faster than you so the debuff will end before you even get a chance to attack). As a melee character, you really just have your single-target, melee-range attack and a few situational special actions, so any method that can immediately put your target in melee range is extremely useful.

>>20706523
I don't know much about the code, but I guess the issue is that, while a normal attack usually is based on one attribute and two or three skills (for example, a claymore-wielding character typically will use Strength, Tactics, Two Hand and Long Sword), a typical special action will just one skill and/or one attribute (Blade Strings uses Tactics and Dexterity).
Stuff like Tactics, Two Hand and Long Sword are all related to your STR attribute, so training them will also train your STR. Even if Blade Strings had a decent damage scaling, you would be neglecting two important skills for your weapon of choice and two sources of STR training.

Whips have the "remote blow" effect, which is not exclusive to them (it can be added by artifact fusion, for example).
Remote blow grants the "Distant Attack" special action. (Not to be confused with "Distant Attack7", which is innate to some monsters, e.g. mushrooms.)
Distant Attack performs a normal melee attack on an enemy up to 4 squares away, albeit with a range penalty to damage.

What are the main differences between elona+ and Omake?

I played both (with more time given to elona+ since that's what I started with), but omake seems more cleaner and less hectic than elona+

However, just from looking at the files for omake I can see there is less content (at least for monsters) compared to elona+

Other than that, what are the other differences between the two variants?

>> No.20719237

omake adds more to do in the first continent, plus adds a few more continents

>> No.20719320

>>20719183
Plus is more focused on its own new content (new continents like South Tyris, new enemies like angry gods and demon ladies, lots of new girls to capture/astral pen then have sex with), while Omake family (Overhaul, Modify, Void Edition, South Tyris Edition, and some other stuff like Baby and MMA) is more focused on improving vanilla content and adding new features to it (new dungeon types like putit dungeons, new events like your rapier-wielding rival, new feats like counters, and more ways to get surrounded by younger sisters). Omake's custom features are a lot nicer too, you can even create your own goddess.
The main thing people here will often talk about is the leveling progression. Plus is fast-paced so you can go straight to the new content and punch gods and shit (and then go back to the Void), meanwhile Omake follows the old vanilla progression. Other than that, they are completely different experiences, it's easier to just read some random parts of the Omake Overhaul's changelog to get an basic idea of how different it is.

In OOMSEST my head maid is telling me an alien queen is living beneath my town. Anyone have an idea of how strong I should be before I try dealing with this?

>>20719183
Plus is far more combat-focused. There are several times more enemy types and the main quest content is several times longer. Your character grows relatively quickly. Potential is trivial to maintain. Living weapons, powerful and readily available powerful fixedarts, and eventually artifact fusion make it very easy to get a good set of equipment together. It's relatively fast and easy to learn skills and the game rewards learning all of them. Plus is much less balanced (martial arts and magic are overwhelmingly superior to the alternatives. All ranged weapons are wildly inferior to melee).

Omake Overhaul and its descendants are more focused on sandbox features and NPC interactions. There are more types of random encounters you can run into throughout the game's world. The NPC adventurers are stronger, carry better equipment, and have a larger presence, especially since they also show up in dungeons and can fight against or alongside you. Your character grows relatively slowly and eventually you'll probably hit a wall because of low potential. There are ways to work around it, but you do have to work for it. Learning new skills is far more time-consuming and you're better off not learning the ones you won't get much use from. There's a wider variety of possible character builds and the balance between them is better (magic and dual wield are probably top tier, but two hand isn't far behind. I don't know about bows but guns can hold their own against melee and might even be better than most melee weapons).

They're both good, both have features that I miss when I play the other one. I personally think OOMSEST is the overall best version.

>>20719474

Most of them will work with Overhaul. Some have MMA-exclusive dialogue lines but most of the time they also have a OO-based version in the same package (I believe that you can also "fix" it by deleting the new dialogue lines), but the ones with MSE/ST-exclusive features probably will either crash your game or just lose said features if you don't use them with the OOMSEST variant.
The custom god wiki is this one: https://wikiwiki.jp/elonacstm/
It's all in japanese, same for the dialogues in all custom gods' files, but the "core" content (miracles, blessed food effects, etc) is in english (just like talk.txt files).
Omake Overhaul's changelog (here >>20719320) have a section explaining how to create your own god, but it won't explain how to fully create the treasure, artifact, servant and avatar of your god (just the details related to this god building system). They all work just like normal custom items/NPCs, so you can use old "custom stuff" guides, or take a look at the omake family wiki (they also have links for ID tables).
The Omake Family wiki is this one: http://elona-omakefamily-wiki.com/
They also have a page explaining all the "EX Settings" features from all Omake variants (since the game itself won't explain them). Pretty useful stuff.

I downloaded the most recent version of OOEN (normal and Hack), and there is no "oo_talk.txt" file in the folders (I can't find it, at least). OOEN's base "talk.txt" is almost identical to vanilla file, the only differences are a few typos that OOEN fixed.
I found this "oo_talk.txt" file in older versions of OOEN, but the dialogue lines aren't actually translated. The english lines are just placeholder text on the default list ("%O_DEFAULT,EN"), just like the one suggested by >>20684088. It's basically an "anti-crash" fix: If the game can't find english-translated lines of the new profession/personality-specific dialogues, it will just use the default ones to avoid a crash.
However, apparently the Omake Overhaul's new gods (Inari and Danalin) aren't fully translated in the OOMSEST's translation patch, but using the translated files available in OOEN should fix this issue.

Savescumming in Elona is only useful for protecting your gold from occasional deaths. Anything else (like item hunting on party quests) is either inefficient or possibly pointless (because the NPC's inventory are generated on map creation/NPC spawn, and not on kill) since "failed" attempts still gives you EXP and possibly other benefits.
Other than that, it's your game. Play it in the way you consider enjoyable, be it savescumming or turning all NPCs into younger sisters.

What makes you say that? Judging by his game I'd say Noa's tastes are pretty off-beat, and the player's failure to meaningfully affect the plot's outcome isn't indicative of a generic isekai protagonist at all. If it were Ano then yeah I could see that.

So let me get this straight:

Elona: The original game. Somewhat dated now due to lack of development.
Elona+: An expansion/fanfic of the original game that adds lots of stuff. Some people think too much stuff.
Elona Omake: A remake of the original. Adds a lot of stuff, but not nearly as much as +. Also the most modular, allowing you to add things like other mods to it.

Is that about right?

I don't really like Elona's storytelling in general. The story have some interesting ideas but it isn't that great, and the way we learn more about it is just annoying. And for some reason Ano decided to make it even more annoying.

I can "forgive" vanilla's story since it is somewhat short and only exists as the game's final score screen (never blocking you from accessing the rest of the game).
I liked the idea of a main storyline that have little to do with YOUR story, and the theme is interesting, but I didn't really care much about characters vomiting their sad backstories between dungeon floors, and the epilogue is just a pointless sequel bait and I hate this kind of thing.
But Plus' story is just an annoying gatekeeper. Most of the new features in Plus are found in the new regions, and said regions are locked behind the tiresome story.
The story isn't that interesting, "inverting" the roles didn't help much either. In Act 2 the old protagonists are wasting most of their time fucking around and trying to figure out how to find the ancient evil that you not only defeated already but is also having passionate sex with on a daily basis. I stopped caring about the main story after that.

Honestly I had more fun reading books about ingame excuses for some of the weird aspects of Elona's gameplay (like the quest giver "etiquette" book). This game should have more books and less cutscenes, the North Tyris is more interesting than the adventures of a hobo hunter, an elea-loving junkie and a suicidal pacifist.

They have their own strengths and weaknesses. but most people in this thread usually play Plus since it was translated first and it had been the go-to variant of the English community until Omake Overhaul was translated. Plus definitely has more content, with 2 more story acts after the first one, but how good they are is a hit or miss depending on the player. It also has an easier early game which may be favorable to beginners. Omake is more of a sandbox, and focuses more on roleplaying, and custom content. Though it only has one story act, and has a slower early game.

Plus is also more popular in the English community while the Omake variants are more popular in the Japanese community.

Someone made a comparison between Plus and Omake Overhaul, though it is a bit biased towards Omake, you can more or less see what each variants have to offer.

Plus' spritesheet is just the vanilla one with more stuff on the bottom half. Just take a quick look at both of them, erase the bottom half of your Plus-based sheet and slap the top half on Omake's character.bmp file if your image editor of choice.
Alternatively, you can use the user folder and drop individual sprite files on it, but you need to rename them properly (pic related, 661 is the ID of the first "custom sprite" slot).

As far as skill points go, you'll get more out of each point if you train your skill's potential at a trainer before you use your skill points. Whether you use skill points for getting your main skill even higher or for getting secondary skills to a usable point is up to you. There's no hard level cap and later on you'll be gaining a level every few minutes, so don't worry too much about wasting them.

I have taken multiple characters past act 3 and into inner-godslayers, so I know what I'm talking about.

I want to write a newbies guide, but, well, too lazy. Instead I'll just do dot points.

- I will be talking mostly about Elona+ / Custom/G.

- Elona has a reverse difficulty curve. What you do later on really doesn't matter, since you'll be drowning in options. The hard part is what to do at the start, when everything can kill you. Think about it this way: you want to be powerful at the start, because then you'll power through the content faster and get the grindan loop set up faster, so you'll be more powerful all the way through.

- surprisingly, the best class to play is a Golem Gunner with riding.

- the most front-loaded and newbie friendly way of doing damage is Firearms. It will last you all the way through act three if you want, and later on you can gently segue into magic or martial arts, or even stay with Firearms. Make sure to get ammo with Burst. the other special ammos are pretty good too - experiment.

- similarly, Riding > not-riding all the way until you have 2000 speed. This is because it is much easier to trade up to faster pets than train your own speed. Riding also synergizes with Firearms.

- why Golem? The speed won't matter if you're riding. You'll love the large health pool. The mana penalty is actually a bonus to noobs because you'll get killed by mana reaction less often.

- Pets are optional except for the mount. Early on they help, later on they're actually kinda more trouble than they're worth since you'll have to worry about their gear and constantly have to toggle them in/out of defensive mode. Plus if you're diligent about swapping out your mount, your speed will outclass them pretty bad.

what to do when you're a level 1 adventurer?

- don't do the nuke thing. it is dishonorable and getting a nuke and hauling it over is kinda PITA, and it doesn't even kill the elves properly nowadays. the reward is kinda disappointing desu.

- instead, do the tutorial, pick up some of the lightweight trash laying around the cave, then just hoof it over to Vernis, and do some quests. You can do the robber hideout, but do NOT do the slime cave -- wait until you're level 10. Priority one is to get rid of the 40 speed. Priority two is to get some gear for every slot. After that you'll want to grind up enough platinum to get every single skill, then make some gold.

- the biggest cause of death at the start is trying to do dungeons/quests above your level. don't do this, the reward is shit and when you come back later they'll be a cakewalk. specifically, do NOT do the slime cave (slimes are evil), and do NOT do the puppy cave (drop stuff here and it's gone) until you're level 15. If you want low-challenge dungeons, do Lesimas level 1~5, or find random nefia of challenge rating below 5. DESU it's mostly not even worth the loot at the start, quests are more profitable until you're breezing through level 50~100 nefias.

- how to make gold? buy a shop. buy a ranch. breed animals for eggs, cook them (you'll want to level cooking up to 200), and sell them in your shop. Best animal for this is chicken at the start, since they lay a shit ton of eggs

best animals for eggs:

act 1: tentacle worms. act 2 and beyond: heqet, reduced to level 10 via memory palace. the point is heavier eggs sell more. chicken eggs are worthless, but you'll get a lot of them - handy for eating or training Cooking.

Brushing the animals and giving them animal feed will upgrade the sell price of eggs for the same weight. It's like the +'s on meat, except it's hidden. You'll need to cook them, of course, since cooked food gives a max of 8.1x to sell price and can give multiple meals per egg. you'll also need high Negotiation for the shopkeeps or they'll sell the eggs underpriced.

how to get better gear? buy it from vendors. dungeon drops are just not as efficient desu. Invest in vendors when you have gold, for better drops. Blackmarkets have all your late-game gear when you invest it to 1000. Magic shops have all the late-game potions/scrolls you'll want -- invest them to 400. The rest is optional.

- don't worry about potential until you get to the point where you can deal with it by using big stacks of blessed potions of potential. Early on it's OK to let it drop to Hopeless. For pets you can give them gold / gems and they'll go train it up... or you could just ignore that too.

- you'll want to set up Farms at some point, to plant Herb and Unknown seeds. Don't bother with the other seeds, except maybe Magic to get Wish rods in November ~ Jan (VERY rare). Best time to do this is AFTER you get the Kumiromi statue and clone it a few times with the Little Sisters quest. Go for ~10 statues.

- in terms of gods: eventually you'll want to worship every one of them, for the sweet gifts. at the start, good ones are Opatos (weightlifting, strength/survivability buffs), Kumiromi (fast stamina regen), Jure (best pet) and Yacatect (for platinum). Note you need 10 Faith for every god pet, even if you stick them in the dojo. In November you can summon your god to the Truth Ground with high favor -- definitely do this. catch them all.

I agree with your premise - the early game is the hardest part and it's worth a few sacrifices to get through it faster, but going golem gunner is going to shave off maybe 10 hours of the pre-Zeome game and add about 100 hours of grinding after. The golem part isn't too bad. I don't think losing 30 mana is worth gaining 50 life in the long term (now that AP can increase life) but it's very good at the start and you get dim immunity out of the deal. I'd say Yerles is a stronger choice though, 110 life is good enough for the early game, 90 mana isn't much of a penalty, and +1 skill point per level is probably the strongest racial feat (mutant shenanigans aside). The extra points smooth out the early game and they add up to a lot once you reach void level 200 and can gain a level every few kills.

Going gunner in E+ is is definitely not optimal in the long run though. Even if you have to drop firearms and start training martial arts from nothing 25 hours in, you should do it. It'll catch up soon enough while firearms will slow you down in every fight that matters for the entire life of your character.

>>20748438
It's good, and for a firearm specialist in E+ dual wielding shields/tonfas ideal. In OO/oomsest it's not a bad idea either though you might prefer dual wielding guns instead.

>> No.20748748

>>20748719
martial arts is too slow to train, plus you'll have to give up on the hand slots, so you're lower on PV, has less flexibility with living weapons, while also being in melee all the time. It is powerful later on, sure, but gunner has all the advantages all the way to act three. I think Magic / Magic Device is a better transition from gunner. You get the synergy of the buff spells, and the magic system is more fun than bump damage. Plus you sort of have to grind up magic anyway even if you go martial arts.

Sticking with gunner all the way isn't bad, either. with burst ammo it's pretty easy to take down most bosses. time stop ammo adds various shenanigans.

>> No.20748772

>>20748719
regarding golem: I don't think I've ever bothered to grind up mana, past what I get from the quest-given fruits, plus feats. There's really no need. In the late game you'll almost never run out anyway, unless you're using the Barrier feat, which you probably shouldn't, since Health is much faster to get back.

the dim resistance can be gotten with high resistance vs sound, so it's marginal. skill points are also marginal: by level 300 you'll have 300 extra skill points. that's worth maybe 300 plats? woo.

If we include debug races, maybe Undeadgod would be a good race to play - 400 mana, plus less slots than standard, so you can afford to get more ether diseases, and get more hands in act 2.

>> No.20748928

Dual shielding MA is a PV tank and still outdamages 2H and DW (both of which do more than twice as much damage as guns). You're right about Magic - it's a great option for a transition, both for its raw power and for how much easier it is to train on an established character.

>>20748772
You absolutely should use the barrier feat. It's an effective +70 to life in addition to a pseudo-guts effect against burst damage like bomb rocks and the meteor spell (barrier won't cause magic reaction damage even if it takes your mp into the negatives). You also get a sort of double regeneration once the enemy breaks through your barrier since both hp recovery from healing and mp recovery from meditation are increasing your effective health. If you're concerned about losing training for the healing skill, wear bloodsucking equipment.

I know the yerles feat isn't an overwhelming difference but the other are all less significant except mutant which is a wildcard, and fairy which is snail tier.

>> No.20748968

>>20748928
if you have anything in the hands at all, you can't get the full 8 extra attacks out of martial arts, which are kinda the whole point. far as damage output goes, not having to melee everything is worth the lower damage. If I want to cheese this, I could also get two extra arms, then carry 4 living weapons with +90 Marksman each. +360 Marksman and a +magic damage shotgun is enough to let me kill inner gods early, though maybe not as early as +450 Magic Device and use rods of lightning.

I usually use barrier until ~lvl 200 or so, then get rid of it. Thing is, when you're put into negative mana you can't keep casting, which is pretty bad. By this point I'd have enough extra Life from AP that I don't miss it.

Really it's all theoretical in the lategame, since there's nothing forcing you to go into lvl 2000 awakened dungeons vs, say, lvl 1000.

>> No.20749049

>>20748968
The point of martial arts is insane base damage, 50% pierce, better crits than frisia's tail, and the option to do whatever you want with your hand slots. The 8 attacks option is definitely nice, so is using claws and tonfas for a balance between damage and useful enchantments. So is using shields to go full tank while still outdamaging 2H/DW glass cannons.

You can get away with doing whatever you want, anything works with enough grinding. But martial arts in E+ are more powerful than weapons and that's not an opinion. MA doesn't even have a rough early game anymore with the addition of claws and tonfas.

>> No.20749078

it's a question of crossover point. >> No.20749341

Well that's harder to say. I'd say it's at least comparable to high end weapons at skill level 250. Your base damage at that point will be competitive with high end weapons. Your pierce will also have maxed out at 50%, only meaningfully outclassed by lightsabers (which have much worse base damage). Dual wield has an advantage in extra attacks and two hand has an advantage in accuracy and multipliers, but I would say leaving your hands free for shields, claws and tonfas makes up for it.

Even early on it's not bad through. Gather 50 small medals for the shield tonfa right off the bat and you'll be outstanding in defense compared to other characters at that point, and I woudn't be surprised if you outdamage a character who goes for an early diablo.

>> No.20749398

>>20749341
that's the rub: living weapons completely warp this picture, since it's way easier to train up living weapons to give +90 skill each, than to train it up yourself. get two extra arms and carry four weapons for +360, and suddenly you're a godslayer. you can't really do this with MA since you can't carry living weapons except in the shoot slot.

early on melee characters are just harder than shooting. you get hit with various dirty tricks more, like potions, or acid, or liches running away, or web, etc. with shooting you can just hold down the F key, and occasionally do an always-hit Zero Shoot.

>> No.20749538

>>20749398
Living weapons are what lets weapons (temporarily) surpass MA, yeah. And it's hard to say at which point which option is better, especially since you don't know exactly when you're going to find the right living weapons, how long it'll take to get the skills you want on them, etc. My anecdotal experience says that the MA attribute buff can at least stand up to magic damage-enchanted weapons in exchange for the small downside of needing a turn and some stamina to cast.

Not gonna lie, dual wielding living weapons for extra firearm and marksman skills does sound promising. MA attempting the to do the same could put one living weapon in the ranged slot along with, say, +22 to MA (among other appealing bonuses) from the shield and smash tonfas. I don't think that's too far behind but that's only taking standard slots into account. +360 from extra hand shenanigans would indeed put you way ahead of the curve for a long time and it's something MA absolutely can't replicate. Of course, if you wanted to be 200% optimal and were already scumming for extra hands then why not go all out with a 20-handed mutant like someone said in the previous thread?

Fighters shouldn't be slow, every class wants speed. In Omake I'd recommend the ninja class for its good feats and +10 to speed, and in E+ I recommend warmage so you'll still be good at casting buffs with heavy equipment. Every class can learn every skill, and you can also change classes so it's not a big deal if you don't like what you picked.
>Also, Is Juere's passive really that bad?
No, it'll slow down your growth, since food is such a good source of potential and stat gain, but the difference is only severe once you've got an unlimited supply of herbs, and at that point jueres can exploit hungry demons as well as anyone else. hey guys, pretty new to the game, currently level 28 and I found this precious knife, do you think it's better to equip it in my shoot slot rather than the wakizashi i found when I was level 14?

Timestop proc won't work on your shoot shoot (Nightmare won't work either, but you don't really have edgy damage on your weapons)
Nightmare looks better than your End Century, but since they are both short swords you can just equip both and dual wield them.

Pretty much everything but heavy stuff (that you don't need), gotta train that Weight Lifting skill.
Heavy low level equipment (like those fat crossbows) is trash most of the time and equipment in general won't give you much money because of how greedy merchants are (when dealing with shopkeepers, selling equipment gets the lowest price rate in the game). The same can be said about light low level equipment (like daggers), but carrying tons of unidentified equipment will train your Sense Quality skill, and this is more about quantity than total weight.

Can you create a new character and play with it normally? If yes, do you have modded files? It could be some broken file. Create a whole new Elona+ v1.75 folder with just the normal files, and test your save on it. If it works, test each modded file one by one (copy-paste file, load save file, repeat with a new one) until the game breaks again.

Even a single pixel edit can break the whole game before it even starts if the any of the .bmp files were edited and saved incorrectly. All images have to be saved in 24-bit bitmap format, so you will have to check all your modded files and save them again, or test them one by one like I suggested before.
Also, my mistake, I meant to say "If no, do you have modded files?". The reason of creating a new character was to confirm if it wasn't a save file bug on your main character (like a broken inventory or map generation issue).

Whatever sounds fun. Having starting skills is important because trying to do something based on a skill without having the skill means you'll be horribly bad at it, so pick things that have the skills that you want. Start by picking a humanoid race for more balanced stats.

I don't know if this is still the case, but back in vanilla it was pretty common to make your first character, get absolutely butt fucked in some horribly long lasting way, and make a second character and then do better. So maybe don't get too attached to your first character unless it seems like things are going well.

Custom AI can be kind of finicky. You'd be better off with "Target Distance <= 5: Attack (Ranged)". Although personally I always use "< 6", but that's probably just paranoia or superstition on my part.

Try this setup:

Self Buff != Holy Shield: Holy Shield
Self HP < 80%: And
Self Buff != Regeneration: Regeneration
Ally HP < 60%: Healing Rain
Target Distance = 1: Attack (Melee)
Target Distance < 6: Attack (Ranged)
Target Distance > 1: Move (Forward)

>> No.20767700

>>20767682
1. regeneration sucks. this is much better:
Self HP < 70%: Cure of Jure.

2. the ranged attack AI is kinda retarded. It'll stand around doing nothing if there's an enemy but the view is blocked so it can't shoot. Try target Distance < 4 instead of 6 to migitate.

This also means short-ranged weapons > long ranged.

3. put at the end:
Player Distance > 1: Move (Forward). This stops the message spam.

That would only work if the pet was not adjacent to you at the time. I've never known "Target Distance > 1: Move (Forward)" to fail.

I think there's something wrong with the Healing Rain.

The instructions work fine when it's the only pet out, but as soon as I introduce allies into the mix, it starts failing apparently at random. Sometimes it will cast Healing Rain for them, but often it just sits there uselessly.

>>20767700
>1. regeneration sucks. this is much better:

It knows regeneration, it doesn't know cure. I've tried putting always-true move forward at the bottom before, but it's failing before then.

>> No.20767778

I bet the problem is the distance between the healer pet and the ally. I solved it like this:
>Player HP < 75%: And
>Player Distance > 3: Move (Forward), Preserve Entity As Target
>Player HP < 75%: Healing Rain, Preserve Entity As Target
But that was with her just healing me. I've never messed around with the Ally setting. All I know about it is that it checks every other party member (that is, the pet won't check itself).

I think this might have been it, maybe. Need to test it some more, but adding "and ally distance < 4" at least seems to help for now. teach it, yo. spells are easy to teach, just make an AI that casts cure and does nothing else (stop when out of mana), then ride a bell and let it go nuts. if you can't get cure of jua, the lesser cure spells are still all better than regeneration.
