I thought like this back when I first listened to vocaloid and didn't know any Japanese, but honestly after doing so I realized that it really enriches the experience to know them and understand them while listening, it adds another dimension to the experience and caused me to see a lot of songs differently. That's not the case with most vocaloid music I listen to, and I'd say less common with vocaloid music in general even though there are tons of fun poppy songs and there's nothing wrong with that. Even for those songs knowing the lyrics is nicer than you give it credit for, though. I'm actually having trouble coming up with too many songs where the lyrics actually feel like just flavor and not part of the song's concept, even light or fairly "shallow" songs. Vocaloid is pretty niche so most people who write songs do so because they like it and not for material success, and there's more interesting lyrics, or at least more attention put into them because of that.

If that's absolutely impossible, then stop buying plastic figurines and start supporting creators/composers/doujinshi artists in the vocaloid community

My point is that your return on investment from buying merchandise all by your lonesome will eventually decline to 0 or near 0. You'll get no more enjoyment from it, you'll have few or no connections to your fellow fans since your main involvement in vocaloid was buying merchandise and you'll have this clunky, fading collection of toys and decorations collecting dust and reminding you of how much money you wasted on a franchise you no longer enjoy

I could be wrong, you could be involved in doujin translation projects or composing your own songs. I'm just writing from my own earlier experiences and yours could be different. But from my observations, people who spend that much on merchandise tend to interact with whatever franchise, series or hobby they like primarily/solely through individualistic consumerism and stay isolated when the base pleasure of buying things wears off. Involvement in a community or group project can preserve and renew one's interest in a franchise through the sense of fulfillment you get through contributing to a collective enterprise, making like-minded friends and socializing rather than staying isolated.

tl;dr if you really like miku/vocaloid continuing to buy merchandise without any further involvement is a good way to ruin your interest in it in the long run; spend time on group/community projects instead
