I actually don't care much for Touhou fandom, but Kaguya was always my favorite. She is attractive and being a NEET hanging on her laptop all day makes her cool, since I can relate pretty dead on.

Kaguya was admittedly a pretty badass worthy opponent in IN, especially with her epic spam of last spells.

However, Inaba of the Moon/Earth cemented her as canon retarded moe.

Well, the hopeless "save me Eirin!" representation of Kaguya probably had something to do with the fact that people perceived her as too easy of a final boss, weaker than Eirin.

I'd say more because Mokou really doesn't seem to care about dying. Sure, Kaguya probably doesn't care too much either, but in your fight against Kaguya it's the usual spellcard duel. Mokou's fighting style seems to basically come down to throwing fire until she dies, resurrect and throw more fire at full strength with more determination.

Basically, where Kaguya is much more ordered and disciplined, Mokou is hot-blooded (doh ho ho ho) and reckless. Damage is irrelevant, she'll regen it or resurrect anew, why waste time defending when she could spend it attacking more?

It's these characteristics that make both characters work, with Kaguya being a smart, fairly mean spirited immortal bored of life and Kaguya being an aggressive hermit with a burning passion for revenge.
