That's why I wish we could have anime threads here, where there are more cool people to talk with.
IMO the split should be between casual fans and hardcore fans, and not based on medium. The only reason more casual fans watch anime is that there is more anime translated into English, and perhaps that most casual fans don't have the patience to read text. This doesn't make anime inherently bad though.

I think that having several boards with somewhat overlapping content would allow users to distribute themselves correctly with time. Stop me if I'm wrong, but I feel like there are a sizable number of /a/ users who enjoy anime the same way they enjoy 3D movies and TV shows, and get irritated by "fanservice," "harems," and people who like "hentai" or whatever they call it these days. I currently have a huge queue of to-watch anime I haven't gotten into. An even bigger queue of VNs and I've only 1cc a single touhou game.

I don't know, I think most of us still watch anime, but the recent seasons are just the same sort of things that you get sick off after a few years of it. And the older, good stuff, has been discussed to death already.
So, we stick with our /jp/. It's not that we hate anime, but that we don't have the need to discuss the currently airing series.

And I'm sure I'm not the only one that still lurks in both boards. There are good island threads from time to time, that's enough to satiate the hunger for proper discussion.

I am one of those people, and I rarely visit /a/ nowadays. I was actually never "irritated by "fanservice," "harems," and people who like "hentai" or whatever they call it these days". I'm irritated by people who take the fanservice series too seriously, fans and detractors alike.
