Any history buffs here have heard of Unit 731? Why is this war crime so rarely mentioned compared to other ones? Seems major to me.

I've heard of lesser ones that barely anyone cares about like chenogne massacre and warsaw ghetto, but it wasn't until I read a friend's paper on it that I heard of 731 (He's a history major doing masters).

And really, I'm not sure what the problem is with all of that stuff they did... I mean, I know it's horrible that they did it to living people, but when the people are going to be executed anyway, why not? And they learned a huge amount from it, too, because they could do the kind of experiment that you just can't do, and they could do it on actual human beings instead of stand-ins like rats or pigs.

I'm not going to say the Nazis were right to do what they did, but I'm glad we kept the research (if we kept it).
